Liverpool vs Man Utd

Jump to newest

Eagerly anticipated, Liverpool undefeated since losing to United before Xmas, now with an innovative formation and a young team absent Gerrard which has gone on a great run. United have probably not looked as good in months as they did last weekend, when without DiMaria they looked back to something like their best.

So will the managers stick with winning teams, or will they bring back the big names for the game?

And what is your prediction for the score?

Should be a great game.

"I hope they both lose "

While not a possibility, and I'm sure neither manager would admit it, but I suspect they would both take a draw now if was offered.

Liverpool are in good form and being the home side makes them favourites but I think it maybe a score draw between them

"Liverpool 65 Man Utd 0"
.

Is that the attendance!.

As a utd fan I will go with 1-2

My head says 2-1

I hope they don't start with Gerrard as I have a funny feeling he'll play a blinder against us, even if he's well past his best.

For us it all depends on Carrick and Rooney, if they play well, we'll win!

Biggest game of the season.....

I hate the scousers (kopites)....with a passion...yes I am a london based fan but I stand on the Stretford end week in week out.

That lot from the other end of the East lancs are vile.......

Anyway any result that means United win...and gerrard gets injured....

Have you ever seen gerrard win the league......;)

I'm sure it is going to be close. It may well come down to which of the keepers has a better day, and De Gea has probably been Uniteds player of the year so far.

Didn't take long to get silly!

Wins for City and Arsenal above and Southampton and Spurs below probably put more pressure on both sides now.

It's the biggest game of your season....if Manure don't get into the top 4 this year, when you've had no European football to think about then that will be the end. What players will go to Utd??

Well both teams are 8/11 for both teams to score and Liverpool slight favorites to win (home advantage) years ago I would have bet as part of a accumulator but this year I really can't be bothered. I'm substituting this match and going for Youngboys vs Zurich btts, as I'm predicting a long ball boring style of football kind of game. Feel free to cuss tomorrow if I'm wrong.

its the biggest game of your season, its not the biggest game of the season, but really "hate" , "vile" , you need help, people support different teams, they are still people, you interact with people that support other teams everyday, they dont change just because they have gone to a match.

Hold on I have friends that support liverpool but today is one of two days of the year that we don't speak

When it comes to mufc vs liverpool that lot say the same about us as we say about them.

there is no other team that I despise more than them (that includes blue lot)........

Try 6000 of them doing Munich arm waves at fa cup game, they call us munichs no need, try being insulted for being a Manc c£&t outside of old Trafford.

For those people that say Rooney is a scouser yes he is but he hates the kopites as well as he is an evertonian

I travel home and away with England and United (oxymoron I know) have friends that support a mixture of teams from the prem to the lower leagues but I will stand by my belief that I will not ever be supportive to Liverpool fc.

Nice to see fellow liverpool supporters from around the country Thankyou!

When we have a merseyside Derby it's just friendly banter between the teams, compared to when we play Man U.

Think it's gonna be a tough one. Hoping liverpool don't score early and then lie back like they usually do. I predict it's gonna be a dirty game as usual, both teams will fight til the whistle blows.

Hope Rodgers puts out a decent team inc Gerard, his last game against Man U. Need to get rid of Johnson waste of space. Mignolet is great during normal game goals but when the spot light is on him for pens, he just crumples!

My prediction? 3-2 to Liverpool. Gerrard, sturridge and Allen to score. Allen is a bit hit and miss. Doesn't necesserily stand out as being a good or bad player. We've had the odd glimmer of hope where he's tried to find the back of the net, think he might surprise us today.

Again selective hearing, you can even hear it on the TV being sung and probably will today.

Liverpool fans are probably singing about Munich as Man Utd fans are singing about Hillsborough.

Don't make us out to be any worse than any other fans. The hatred is there because we are the 2 most successful clubs in Britain and for what seems like decades, there's not much difference between the sides, except you are only 4th without Europe and we were 2nd last season so therefore we must be better

"Hold on I have friends that support liverpool but today is one of two days of the year that we don't speak

"

been called a scouse cunt many times by mates who support other teams, usually reply in a similar vein and take it as banter, never thought that they were all vile or hate them..

suppose its down to the individual..

chanting about Munich is equally as disgusting as chanting about Hillsborough and anyone who takes part is a disgrace..

I really can't get so excited about 22 vastly overpaid cheating nancies chasing a bag of air around a field. They should watch a real game like yesterdays rugby union to learn how to behave like professionals.

I'd take a boring 1-0. with a late winner from Stevie G in Fergie time, just to rub salt into their wounds.

I will take a scrappy 1-0 win over a draw or defeat for utd, little else to play for this season,so doing the double over liverpool would make the season a little sweeter.

So the managers have made their big calls and Gerrard and DiMaria both on the bench. I would expect both to figure at some point and how the managers use their subs may well be critical.

In summary, all United for 30 mins, very good goal by Mata, Liverpool getting into the game in the last 15 and should have equalised through Lallana.

Just thinking though that United should also be down to 10 men. Jones should have been booked for his terrible challenge on Lallana in the first half and was lucky not to get a straight red for the challenge on Henderson. Either way he should be off.

Going to take something very special from Liverpool to kee the score respectable. They will have to try and get something out of the game bu in doing so United are going to have a field day on the counter attack.

Stevie G, what were you thinking??

In Gerrard's defence, the team in the first half was over run, and there was a need for some aggression, as Carragher said just now, he plays with his heart and on this occassion he got carried away. Very big of him to give an interview and apologise, maybe Moreno, Allen and a few others who had poor games might learn from him.

While it will be sad to see him leave Liverpool and the Premier League, it is the right time for him to go, with legacy still in tact.

As I said earlier I have a good few mates from Manchester, being a Scouser there's plenty of banter. We refrain from calling each other vile and stooping to mention disasters. Don't know who you think you are!

Pity about Gerrard letting passion overflow still a rated player by my fellow Scousers.

Well played to all the decent Man Utd fans.

Credit to van Gaal and United, first half in particular they were very impressive. They should have gone for the kill at 2-0 but seemed content with the result, you have to think had Ferguson been in charge they would have gone for 3,4,5-0. But credit also to the Liverpool side who looked dead and buried but showed a lot of character to stay in the game.

They are long passes, just ask van Gaal to show you the stats!!

Interestingly have Fellani pushed up against the Liverpool back 3 for the long ball left huge amounts of space in the midfield which they exploited well. Tactically I though van Gaal had a blinder.

"Just like when they played Stoke Clive Liverpool struggle against the long ball teams"

Of all Uniteds games this season this one was the least of the long ball games . Did you actually watch the game ?

"That wasnt passion that was just down right thuggery

Sorry but I disagree, It's no different to how Wayner used to react. Simply the red mist descended which happens a lot.

"

well through the red mist will they ban him like they did Diego Costa for the same thing

Jones should have gone for sure and I'm a Man Utd fan but Gerard's challenge was a disgrace a welcome departure for a player who gets away with this sort of thing all too often. I just hope the Mls know what they are letting themselves in for, Matas second goal was a delightful strike and the game as a whole was very entertaining and as usually a very fiery one too which is good as there isn't enough passion shown in the game these days

A lot of respect though for him at the end of the game.

Apologise to his team? Check

Apologise to his manager? Check

Apologise to the fans? Check

Apologise to Hererra for something that could have broken his leg? Che.... Oh no wait, he didn't did he?

Basically he was sorry he got caught!! It's been a feature of his game for years. His career is littered with tackles where he goes over the ball and gets away with it.

Lots of talent, but a horrible nasty streak about him.

Hard to see anyone catching Chelsea, but second place is definitely up for grabs.

If utd win all their final 8 matches, and Chelsea lose 4 of their last 9,utd will be crowned champions, again.

Yes I'm a dreamer

"I really can't get so excited about 22 vastly overpaid cheating nancies chasing a bag of air around a field. They should watch a real game like yesterdays rugby union to learn how to behave like professionals.

They why post on this forum, start a rugby forum,or aren't you getting enough attention?"

Oo! touchy!

Oh Roy Keane was a dirty, nasty player. Only difference is he wasn't as sneaky. They should both be ashamed for different reasons.

Oh heavens no no no, but nowhere near as bad as Liverpool players who proved at the weekend that they are nothing but thugs and now skrtel is being punished for his stamp too so I'd say it was a good weekend

What have Cantona and Keane got to do with Sunday's game?

You Liverpool fans got too cocky as usual, thinking you had the game won before it had even kicked off. Your team were played off the park and they lost their discipline.

Losing Skrtel for 3 games might concern Rodgers more than losing the game. I'm sure he will contest the charge saying that he couldn't change direction, but it looked pretty clear. Rodgers will also be worried about injuries to Sturridge (again) and Lallana at a key juncture in the season. Still think the battle for the top 4 has a few more twists and turns yet!
