Okay.... Curious question- do any people here sit next to their dining partner, rather than opposite to their partner, in a resteraunt? If so- why?

Opposite - I can see a sneaky attack on my pudding coming better when not reliant on peripheral vision

Central

Old etiquette had partners opposite and friends more frequently at 90 degrees. I sit how I prefer which is typically opposite to a partner or someone I fancy.
