Should we ban plastic bottles?

Bradford

Last year, San Francisco banned the sale and distribution of plastic bottles of 21oz (596 ml) or less. After a nosey on the internet, seems other places have banned them as well.

Tree hugging nonsense or a serious problem?

Central

The amount of plastic getting into the world oceans is quite staggering, so it's especially important for coastal cities to deter use, such as from San Francisco. That city is more liberal than many and has had progressive policies that have influenced the world.

I don't like the plasticisers that are put into the bottles, which potentially are dangerous to human health. As such I rarely use anything from such a container.

I think plastic is a real problem - check this out for something really alarming...

but it's plastic bags from supermarkets that I have a real issue with, non-degradable (for the most part) and there's just so many of them! What would be wrong with robust paper bags? (Like Safeway used to provide, only with strong handles).
