Is it my imagination, or is there an increasing prevalence of profiles expressing what they don't want, rather than what they do want? I've just done a local search, and ... wow... its really depressing. An observation: Couples' profiles seem to be much more negative than Singles' profiles. Any thoughts on this? Mike

I guess our profile is a bit like that, but it's to save wasting peoples time. Our profile never used to state negatives but then we got masses of mail from unsuitable people. It's easier to be upfront about what you want and don't want we've found.

in the night garden

Now that you mention it, you're right it's all about no this and no that. Very negative when you think about it.

I suppose it's a kneejerk reaction to getting lots of mail from desperados.

shame!

Agree with this 100% - I'm the same. It helps separate the wheat from the chaff...allegedly!!

If you put down what you DONT want, it's far clearer than generalising about what you do want. It clarifies the bounderies. Saying "no fat people" is exceptionally clear, isn't it? saying "no asians" is clear, yes? Saying "noone under 35" is clear?

It seem negative, but if you don't put what you don't want, you'll get every chancer mailing you.

perhaps because it would be a lot shorter list than what they would like.

look at it positively, if they have a concise lists of "don't want"...the rest is fair game!
