How are the miles work out on here you do a search find some one say within 30 miles of you but when you do a search on how far it really is from you by Road it works out ate 126 miles and a 2 1/2 hour drive each way ???

Distance, as with many websites, is displayed in terms of radius from your position irrespective of modes of transport.

I have many people within a 30 mile radius of me, but as there is a large river nearby and the nearest crossing is around 15 miles away, these people end up being around at least 60 miles away in terms of driving mileage.

For example, many years ago, I was involved in a short term restricted broadcast license radio station (1 months license essentially) for a radio station on the isle of Sheppy. 6 miles away as the crow flies, but over 60 miles to get there by road. I could even see the destination with the naked eye if I took a file minute walk from where I lived to the local beach.

It could be they updated their location if they travel around.
