Last week I learnt they this was not invented by farmers.

It was actually invented by the Germans during War 1, 30th April 1916, as a way to save energy.

So in 2 weeks time when you wake up, all groggy because you've had a hour's less sleep... You can really blame the Germans

Actually, although Benjamin Franklin is often credited with the invention of Daylight Saving Time it was in fact George Vernon Hudson of New Zealand who came up with the idea as it is currently used throughout most of Europe and North America. You are however correct that it was Germany and the Austro-Hungarian Empire that first implemented DST nationally in 1916.

It wasn't so they could save energy, it was so they could get up an hour earlier and put their towels on the sunloungers

It's about time that they stopped fucking about with the clocks every six months.

If you wanna shift "daylight time" just go to bed/get up at a different time.

Spare a thought for the poor sods who are just getting to see daylight leaving work then get plunged back into darkness.

I used to work 12 hr night shifts, 4 on 4 off. In winter we did 6-6 then when the cocks changed we went to 7-7. Everyone was happy with that
