The This is England thread got me thinking about when I was a Scooter riding Skinhead back in the Day so come on and fess up what were you, ones I can remember off the top of my Head were, Skins, Punks, New Romantics, Bikers, Rock a Bilys, Pycho Billys.

I'm going to dig some old Pics out and load one up for a laugh

I was a punk then when that got a little sad in the early 80's I discovered electro and hip hop and started break dancing! So I became REALLY REALLY sad LOL.

Still, my 'crew' and I made some good money out of it!

I went to see The Selector about five years ago in a tiny little room, of about 100 people, probably the best gig I've ever been to - it was mayhem!

I was quite gothic actually and I guess a little punky though still retained a feminine edge. Never in a million years would I wear a pair of Doc Martin boots. I would wear a nuns habit with stockings and suspenders underneath, or a short leather skirt with knee hi black boots, loved Siouxsie and Robert Smith from the Cure and wanted to look like them which didnt really work as i was blonde. Now Ive discovered swinging I can wear the leather skirts and boots again, oh happy days. Still love the same type of music

rocker/greaser/biker

differnet names same thing. Into motorcycles and rock music. Now in my 50's nothings changed except the music may have got a bit more wild, the likes of slipknot, etc being listened to alongside the old faves like black sabbath.

Back in my youth, as now, my taste in music and fashion was quite varied. In the late 70s I hung around with punks, but was quite into ska and was also a bit of a disco diva. Never did like being pigeon holed ... (and that's not some kind of kinky sexual act by the way!)

i was a 'raver'.....vicks in the hair and grinning inanely....i was one of the 'orinigal whistle posse' back in my home town. Gaw, we thought we ruled the world!

I used to make my own outfits choosing things from second hand, charity and vintage shops...even made a top out of a pair of fishnet tights, cutting out the feet and gusset.

8 hours in a sweat pit, didn't smell too pretty, the sweat used to literally drip from the walls and ceilings

Started with rock/metal music & morphed into the glam metal scene of the mid-80's with bands like Hanoi Rocks etc. Always wore spiked multi-coloured hair, make up, heels & some wild & kinky clothing (explains a lot really!).

Then got more into the 'alternative' scene & started following New Model Army about the place. Cut my hair into a very long (2 foot) mohican & started wearing steel-toed clogs, combats etc.

Still love all the music, even still got my clogs somewhere - probably next to all my heels!

the music of the late 70s early 80s was brill not just ska/2tone but all the electro and new wave stuff oh happy days

.then it all went horribly wrong with the dross produced by those prats stock ,aitken and waterman

.the manc bands of the late 80s early 90s was a refreshing change but i cant stand those beatles wannabees oasis

I never liked Duran Duran.

Yes to Human League, and I thought Phil Oakey was a real dish!

I also liked Depeche Mode, Thompson Twins, Erythmics, Queen, Madness, Ultravox, Adam and the Ants, etc. etc. etc...

Never thought of a label! Rode bikes and had a leather jacket and the gear, but had loads of mates who had scooters with all the Mod gear and we all used to hang together.. Had a serious crash on the bike after many minor scrapes and just after met the delightful Innuendo! Stopped riding bikes after one of those cathartic moments.. (But if I get crippled or die on my bike it will leave her devastated!) So I stopped riding.

Loved the wind in my hair so bought a Triumph Vitesse convertible and had the best of both. On a trip to Southend with all our mates, it pissed down. They all got soaked and the girls were mad! We arrived all dry and happy.. lol

Went on to be a bit of a hippy later and embraced that culture for a while. I stopped after I realised that I was only doing it to be like everyone else. Happy now just being myself. Still love bikes and scooters, but won't ever ride again...

Had a Herald Convertable first, followed by an "A" reg (1963) Vitesse 1600 straight 6 Convertable and then a Vitesse 2ltr straight 6 saloon.. Great cars.

THe 1600 Vitesse was faster than the 2ltr. More economical and rusty as fook! All were fun to drive as you can corner as hard as you like and I actually had the front valance (Today that is called a splitter???

)scraping on the ground with the opposing rear wheel totally off the ground..

Don't make em like that anymnore.

I didn't know they did a 1600 vitesse but i was more into the looks of a car then. I remember my dad taking me out in his and scaring the pants off me he drove that fast. No seat belts on either but i loved the car and was real upset when it went

I Also had a Triumph Vitesse convertible..... can even still remember it's registration, CAB 600H
