"If I own 60% of a property and my mum owns 40% and we then get planning permission and improve the property. This would incur a marker against it. Which I know if we sold later to someone else it would alter the council tax banding. But the ? IS If I decide to buy out my mum's 40% would this cause the council to re band my property ?" Ooh, I love a challenge! Can't find a definitive answer as to whether or not a partial sale would constitute a 'relevant transaction'. However logic would imply not, since they could not carry out a 'partial' revaluation, and technically 60% of the property hasn't been subseqently sold. Best to check with your local Valuation Office (details via Google) Mr ddc

"Yeah I did a couple of hrs research but got know where. I was going to ring council Monday but thought I'd post on here on off chance someone knew. But like you Logic. It will be me paying council tax bill after Before and after" If it's you paying the council tax, in your name, before and after it is highly unlikely it will even register with the LA.
