You think it may be wet, submerge it in a bowl of dry rice and leave it for a day or so. If its got water in it the rice will draw the water out and it may start again...

After that you have a choice...

Take it to a shop for repair.

or...

Hit it with a hammer...

If it starts working the hammer fixed it. If not, remember it was already broken! LoL

If you think it's suffered water penetration sitting it in rice will do fuck all, waft a hairdryer (on it's coolest setting) back and forth over it.

Does it need upgrades installing?

A previous phone of mine just died once. I thought there was a problem recharging it but after taking it in they said it was because I didn't install upgrades. It had to be sent off but only took three days.

If it's water damage you can tell because there are indicators on both the battery and the inside of the phone that go red if exposed to water.

There are ways of pulling data off it even if screen doesn't work, but as a minimum it needs to have power to the motherboard.

Xda deleopers forums are a good place to look for all things phone and geeky.

Next phone turn on sync with Google photos, never loose a picture again

Even if the phone is dried out and works again they stay red.

Some funny suggestions, lol

My s2 went funny a while back, and still acts funny... some suggestions:

1) hold power button, up volume and menu button at same time. Do you get boot screen?

2) reset battery by using a 9v battery. Be careful it doesn't blow up though!

I'm not sure how accurate that is.

I've been showing as logged on with a mobile device when I definitely wasn't on my phone before.

You could try a replacement battery in it - a shop may let you try it, before you buy it, to make sure it's the battery and not the phone that's dead. The drying out tips are spot on too, if it's still damp.

If your battery is good, maybe there's a reset you could do? You can usually get instructions over the net : realise you may be a bit limited there.

Otherwise, some of the local shops fix phones - maybe they could give advice, before and if you determine whether you'd like them to do anything.
