Point is, is that enough to warrant a knighthood? When I was young, it was a rare honour. Now handed out very readily. Who should they be given to and why? Shouldn't it be such a rare honour that when you hear 'Sir' or 'Dame', you think in admiration 'Wow! What have they done?' | |||

" I am no expert but it appears that about 2,600 knighthoods are awarded each year. It may just be that it is easier to become aware of the awards now than it was then. | |||
