"Gillette shaving gel, the Orange can one. It's surprisingly useful for removing stains on carpets, We use it to remove black boot polish from military carpets, works a treat, although I would try it somewhere inconspicuous first as the gel is blue but turns white when you rub it in with a damp cloth worth a try and relatively inexpensive, it removes boot polish so can't see it not working??" that must be strong stuff to take that out of a carpet ...worth giving a go thanks xxx

"White wine is good for removing red wine stains. It also works the other way round if you spill white wine, just put red on it. The same theory also works for coloured cheeses." This! The white wine works very well. Had this problem twice recently Salt too. I've also been informed soda will do the job

"Suck it up with a straw or smear some honey onto a hedgehog. Their spines act like a Brillo Pad and it's a scientific fact that honey dissolves red wine. Afterwards, take the hedgehog for a drink. They love Southern Comfort. "
