Last Minute Holiday

We unexpectedly have a welcome fortnight off work from today.

I am going to look for a holiday online for a week or so. Not used to going away in March. Are the resorts open for tourist business so early or are they like ghost towns?

Also any recommendations for a last minute get away somewhere sunny and warm at this time of year greatly appreciated.

Places like Brighton are open for business all year.

The Canary Islands are lovely in March too.

We went to the Moonscape of Cape Verde last year too. Hotel Toureg plonked in the middle of nowhere on a spectacular beach. Surreal holiday experience!

Thanks for the Egypt tip. Hadn't considered there with everything that's going on in the region.

Hurghada recommended. Plenty of trips available, haggle! There's a price for Russians,Germans,Dutch and they try it on higher for us Brits. Aim for half of asking price.

I have a villa in hurghada but I honestly wouldn't recommend it as a holiday at the minute . It's safe enough but there are few English tourists around. Sharm would be a better bet at the moment

We have found a few in the Canary Islands. Last time we went to Fuerteventura in May it was quite cold when the wind was blowing across the islands. Was it ok for you guys?

It was around 24 when we were there but it was cold at night. We paid £700 for the week all inclusive with hire car parking at airport and in a 4star hotel if that helps with price

I used lowcostholidays you pick the flights you want . And the hotel you want. Was really easy. You can be flexible a day or two then. No set number of days to be there.

If you want sun, sand, sea and swinging, Maspalomas in Gran Canaria will deliver all four. Fun on the dunes and in the clubs and there us even a swinging hotel (Mirage) should you want to go the whole hog!

I loved Egypt, went for 2 weeks in July back in 2008, stayed in a hotel called iberotel something I can't remember but it was lovely. VERY HOT I remember looking at the thermometer one day by the towel place next to our pool and it said 51 degrees! The room attendant guy couldn't do enough for us after chucking him £20 in british money! Our fridge was stocked daily with water and cans of pop. Sharm isn't far from naam bay and not much in a taxi, we went there most nights either to Hard Rock Cafe or pacha night club. Slept off the next days hangover on the beach or by the pool, was black coming home, lush tan!

A lot of Cyprus is warming but resorts mainly closed down - family have just returned.

Agree with the others on Canaries, Egypt etc. Have fun!!
