I seem to have less free time available than before, which seems to be seriously impacting on my social life.

Job cuts etc mean that I am working longer hours, leaving less time for the fun things in life.

How is the current state of the economy affecting you?

stupid hours...weekly shop way more..rent increases yearly but no payrises...just seems to be gradually worse,not better!

Lost 1.5 days holiday...

More work, same team resource..

Pay went up £7 per week.after a 4 year freeze.

NI and pension contribution up £32 a month... So I'm worse off constantly.

I have a job I absolutely love but the wages are rubbish. Its a trade off , but sooner or later I may need to find a better paid job but far less job satisfaction.

I was an engineer but redundancy came .

Shit at first, lost my first job due to it. Spent a few months unemployed at 17 then found somewhere to finish my apprenticeship.

Jumped ships and went to work for a worldwide company in 2011, since then my wage has increased around £250 a month. Bought a house last year. Things are looking good

I work for myself and I'm making the same money roughly a year as I was in 2008!

2004 that was a good year

I wouldn't think it's getting better anytime soon regardless of what bollocks the papers will be telling you!

I worked for free for 3 months to finish that bloody apprenticeship !! I loved the job but at 19 couldnt turn down the money at my current job

Lost my job in 2012 when company went bump overnight (a very large company) currently earning 10k a year less travelling further to work and in my own car not a company one. Things are tight but you make adjustments to your income.

. Swings and roundabouts .My salary has stayed constant but income from other sources has increased so I will not complain. Some costs have risen, others have fallen.

The emergence of zero contracts during the recession and the abuse of it by major companies has been disgusting. Also companies still in profit making people redundant just to make share's value increase should not be allowed. Although touch wood, I have remained safe i now have two other job roles absorbed into mine which i have not received extra for and now working longer hours to meet targets. But I do feel for friends, family and others that have been affected. The only good thing to come out of it was making people more sensible with money but unfortunately more greedy and selfish. I know I had to cut back on my luxury and social side and was not helped by regular travel fare increase.

Same here. Had a job that paid 1k month more than I earn now but hated it so much it made me ill. Earn less, everything costs more so have to get a second job Which means less free time

Ended up on a zero contract... impact. . Hardly any hours..rota for the month available if lucky. .at start of the month.. love the work..hate the wage. On the up side..social life improved.

Because of the type of industry I work in , I've been far busier since the recession hit. Like others, I'm more careful with my weekly shop now and I've cut back on luxuries. We get by.

My two grandmothers are still alive , 88 and 87 - if you asked them - they would tell you we have nothing to complain about compared to what they lived through. They're probably right.

I'm lucky I'm on secondment and my employer has given us a 1% pay rise plus £500 bonus every year. On the down side I'll be redundant in a year but always looking for another job. As a single person you think that everything would be cheaper well it's not..bills are rising and ive just got my income keeping me afloat and whatever the lodger gives me. However I cannot really complain I have a roof over my head and food in my belly and clothes on my back. I have to make do which I am

Pay freeze since 2010, interviewed for my own job 3 times in the last 4 years (have survived the cut so far), and massive increase in workload. But I know I'm in a pretty good situation anyway, so money-wise I've not been heavily affected. The nature of my job has changed though, I work in the public sector and the focus has changed from how to improve and invest in services to how we can cut them while minimising impact to the public as far as possible.
