So....I went to see one the other night..had a good reading...she told me about my grandad who passed away last yr...amongst other things about me...was quite spot on...so the question is....do you believe or not????...answers on a postcard please....

Part of me wants to believe, would be lovely to think all my loved ones are liking down on me and seeing what we get up too (selectively of course)

I believe a lot are just so general that what they say can be interpreted so many ways...

I did go to one once who just knew too many details about things, and who totally freaked me out when she started singing a song that my grandad (who had been dead for 8 years) had made up and used to sing to me when I was a kid

The only one I have ever believed was one who didn't charge for it.

She knew very specific things about my Grandad (not the generic comments that could apply to anyone) and mentioned that he wanted my brother to have something that he'd hidden in the wall (turned out there was a small hole in the plaster in his bedroom with a flap of wallpaper over it that he'd hung a picture over, he'd also placed his pocket watch in there).

I'd typically say they're a bunch of con artists but she's the only one I couldn't fault.

It's bulshit in my opinion, if people find peace in it tgen good luck to them. Persobally I think tge key to enjoying life is accepting our own mortality and own fragility.

Isn't that part of it? You go to see a person who you don't know and they don't know you yet they tell you stuff that only you know and they couldn't possibly know? Does that make sense?

The girl next door to me went to see one recently where she was asked 'do you work'... She replied yes...and was told 'you wont stay there'

Anyone could say that.

A good clairvoyant should not need to feed from you by asking you questions

I great believer dont know till you get right meduim which one I go to spot on seeing another soon if you get right one gave you information that spot on you will want to see them again having reading this month she only want to know your name she visit the house but everyone got their believe I was spectical at first till my brother took me but we all got different believe if they gave what you want in message spot on

Despite having seen an excellent one many years ago I'm really sceptical

I believe you hear what you want and make it suit you

If you get comfort from it then it can't be bad but I don't like how some people run their lives according to the last reading and spend fortunes doing so

Having seen plenty of ghosts I do believe in an afterlife.

BUT

I have seen many clairvoyants who just waffle and are SHITE and give no information whatsoever - just general statements.

I have also seen some good clairvoyants.

The first one I saw was a lady called Margaret Hurdman - she came to my house.

I put my car round the corner, took photos off the wall etc - she was amazing. She named names of passed relatives and described how they died. She named my best friends including references to conversations I had with them. She was able to tell me about the recent scratch ID dine to my car, and how I'd done it. Also she gave me history of instances that happened to my grandad - which were verified when I asked him.

There was no cold reading with Margaret or generalised statements - all facts with names.

I knew someone ( 'knew' because I refused to see them again after this) who was genuinely upset because a medium had told them that they wouldn't win the lottery, I could have told them that for half the price.

I find it really hard to understand how anyone can believe in this sort of thing in 2015, people will deny climate change is happening dispite all the evidence presented, people will argue that vaccines are bad for you dispite all the evidence to the contrary, people will passionately argue that the U.S. Government carried out 9/11 dispite all the evidence against their theory.

There's no evidence (hard, logical, scientific) for the existence of an afterlife, of ghosts etc... But that's just played off as "you're close minded" when in fact believing in such things is close minded.

It's all total bollocks. You only have to watch Derren Brown doing it to realise it's just a magic trick...like any other magic trick. I know these people sound convincing and seem to tell you things they couldn't possibly know but that's the 'trick'. A bit like Paul Daniels cutting a women in half. I don't honestly believe he's actually sawing a woman in half and then sticking her back together! It's just I don't know how he did the trick. It's an illusion. When I see David Copperfield flying through the air I don't think this guy can really fly, it's just a trick. It looks totally real but I don't sit there thinking this guy's actually flying!

But at the end of the day if people want to believe then good luck to them. If they get something they need out of it then who am I to stop them.

I'd expect that if a clairevoyant came to your house to give you a reading (charge you for a reading) then that would be booked in advance giving them ample to time to visit secretly to check out your car, peer through windows, chat to Neighbours, go on 192 and genealogy sites as well as faceache and other social media. Doesn't take long to dig up loads of info on someone. Local press, google, schools on friends united etc.

Then the strange guy who told me to stop using ouiji boards... Never used one or even seen one

I have since given up and I'll just see my dead relatives on the other side

Clairvoyance presumes that the body has a "soul" or "spirit" that continues to be communicable with after the body has died. I don't believe in a soul, a spirit, ghosts or clairvoyants. I certainly wouldn't want to be harassed by some bejeweled floozy called Gypsy Rose something when I die!

Why aren't clairvoyants talking to victims of murder etc finding out what happened

Why is it always an aunt, uncle, grandad, grandmother. Not a great great grandad for example. I'd be much more interested to hear what my great grandad had to say.

I've got first hand experiance of these so called psychics taking the piss and clutching at straws. Not a believer

Simple answer,, look up your local mediumship development group and go see what your capable of

We are all potentially mediums and psychics,, our abilities close down before we reach our teens due to all the brainwashing that we endure!

Our abilities remain dormant but can reopen for many different reasons,,, we can develop these abilities,, just like going to the gym! Repetition and practice, and meditation is the key to success.

I try to be open nmbut a skeptic about such things.

Derren Brown has shown how easy it is to convince people of clairvoyant powers when he has none. Cold reading and other powers of observation reveals a lot.

I don't think they're all frauds but some probably are. Others could have developed cold reading talents over time.

There never seems much of great detail and significance that's revealed and the main famous ones refuse tests in controlled situations.

I think when we die that that's likely us finished. No abilities to communicate afterwards as our brains and minds have perished. I tend to think that primitive people developed hope for more than this life and it still continues despite it appearing very unlikely and probably because we overstate our importance in the grand scheme of things.

I know we know but a little about the world but it just doesn't seem so likely that there could be much other than straightforward life then death and no after death lines of communication back to here.

I know its no comfort when we've lost someone we love to not think they somehow can continue but its more realistic to think people will con us or be skilled at saying what we want to hear based on some sensitivity to reading people.

I've only come across one that was genuine when I was 18 - in the 80's so no internet. She didn't do it as a business was a friend of a friend (a cop who knew her as they consulted her for work reasons but this wasn't made public).

She knew my middle name (v unusual archaic Spanish) and my date and time of birth. Also my dad's nickname for me and when I was supposed to be born (I was early).

She then told me things that would happen in next 30 years. All have come true inc 2 mc losing 3 babies, various medical issues I had no symptoms or outward signs of at the time. The house numbers I would live at (not my choice as military family). One left to come true or not

I lost a close friend and I went to see a clairvoyant and she told me things only me and my friend new and told me personal things only I knew .I gave clairvoyant no information about myself at all. Was really good .

there are true mediums out there and unfortunitly there are fakes also some who have the gift and abuse it and some who dont even know they have it

Def believe. Went to see one a year after my Mum passed - wore her watch. Didn't notice till I got home the watch had stopped at the time my Mum 'came through' - checked it an hour later it hadn't moved, checked it in the morning as assumed the battery had gone and it was bang on time again! She was def letting me know she is still with me.

It's mostly cold-reading.

If someone comes to you with a question, you just decide whether your primary goal is (a) honestly try to help them, or (b) exploit them for money.

If they won't accept (a), you may as well do (b).

For example, someone could be lacking in confidence or something like that and you give them a reading saying

"you can do it, grab life by the balls, it will be hard but you'll prevail."

And then they start whinging about how they want an easy way and you go:

"well, I could do a larger and more complex reading, but it will be more expensive."

That to me sums up Tarot.
