not the small blind animals that live in the ground.

I had a mole that was annoying me, and had read on the Internet about a method using dental floss ,tie it tight around the mole, after a couple of days it turns black and a couple of days later it will drop off. I was dubious but decided to give it a go , it worked.

You have to be careful regarding moles, I'm well aware, and I'm not recommending this for everyone, but just thought it could be helpful to some.

It's ok for skin tags but definitely isn't advisable for moles.

You need to visit Norfolk and do mine for me.

I've got 3 on the underside of one of my arms which I am never going to be able to tie cotton round myself.

Annoying little buggers they are. Two of them are in the way when I epilate under my arms and are forever getting trapped in the epilator.

I did a skin tag near my nipple with a pair of nail clippers once.....my OH looked sick when it made a squeak noise

i thought moles had 'roots' in the skin that are also removed when done by doctors?

I am all for home remedies for small things like skin tags (and cysts) but moles for me are far too serious so mess around with on my own.

Your GP may be willing to freeze spray them for you.

Takes a few seconds and they drop off after a couple of days.

oh I will do them, I've got one I've got to to do at the minute, I only do big ones

I've had quite a few moles removed. They were all done surgically, by a doctor. Three of the buggers have grown back.

I don't know what qualifies as big but mine feel plenty big enough when my epilator grabs hold of them!

Not a recommendation, I agree you need to be careful, but a cancerous mole is usually easy to spot, darker in colour, irregular shape, bleeds easily.

Not a recommendation, I agree you need to be careful, but a cancerous mole is usually easy to spot, darker in colour, irregular shape, bleeds easily.

That's very much an over-simplification.

My mum bought a herbal treatment that is supposed to get rid of skin tags but it doesn't se to be working so far.

Interestingly though all her moles fell off during her second batch of chemo treatments - even though they weren't cancerous (she has ovarian cancer) and the oncologist said it happens quite often

Moles - You will Probably Spend about half and hour in the hospital and they just cut the moles of with a scalpel type thingy..

Its not painful as the needle for the anaesthetic probably stings more..

Plus they send the mole away to check for any cancerous signs etc..

I wouldn't recommend removing them yourself. I had one removed from my face, it did have roots under the skin and they had to be cut out. They did a fab job and it only took about half an hour but the scar was larger than I expected it to be. Thankfully it's not very noticeable

I once had a mole, it was a total pain and drove me to my wits end (approx dist. 1'4"). I tried everything to get rid of it. In the end when I caught it, I was that frustrated I buried the little sod alive....

Just don't do this. You could miss a diagnostic test result for cancer, end up with worse scarring than the mole itself, get an infection etc.

If we were living in stone age ignorance I could understand it. We know better and have good health services.

I've got a lot of moles. Using cotton wouldn't work on most of them because they're either flat, or too big and not raised enough to get cotton around them. I had a few removed by my doctor. But not for cosmetic reasons.. They used to rub against my clothes or seatbelt and they would bleed a lot. The scars aren't pretty, but somebody mentioned something about roots.. I think that's right because my scars are like little dents now. So yeah I wouldn't recommend using cotton or dental floss for moles

not really if your quick,if its a thick tag it might bleed a bit,but only for a second or two,just cover the nail clippers over near the bottom,and nip,or clip,gone.......

Is it just me that's concerned that a mole that's cancerous would be missed and tossed away, rather than sent to labs for tests?

It's one of the daftest ideas I've seen on fab. Is anyone having problems getting NHS removal?

Most here are saying cotton or nail clippers for skin tags but we all after moles need to be seen and removed by a GP

my daughter had a dodgy mole removed from her back - now imagine a mole the size of a 5p and a scar the size of a 50p - this is because moles go further than the dark skin you see - i wouldnt even consider tying them off

AFAIK some practice nurses are now able to remove them surgically.

DO NOT ever attempt to remove your own or a friends.

best get things checked by the doc .. I have had 3 skin cancer type moles all different in the way they look. none were the tyable sort. skin tags can be whipped off with dental floss or cotton, I can tell the difference with good and bad. the last one was white and flat two were raised and obviously had a blood supply . be careful what you remove yourself. just best to let someone check them and freeze or remove

I've had a few removed via surgery, Dans wasn't like a mole, like what I'd had removed, back, hip and bottom.... They were brown n needed testing and he is impulsive. His Came off within a week. It's fine no infection? I wouldn't recommend but he's done it before and just did it. But all good x

Get it done via your gp not with quick internet methods.

I had a few burnt off a few years ago yes they hurt for a couple of days but soon dried up and had no further problems. One I had between my boobs I loved it lol had that taken out and so glad I did as when the bi op came back it was showing signs of cancer.

I have a lot of moles and get them checked every year now.

I had loads of skin tags removed, burned off actually, by my gp. He also removed a normal mole on my underarm / front where my bra was rubbing. I'd done a few skin tags with thread but it would have taken about 10 years to do them all. Getting them done properly was faster, less painful and healed better than my DIY ones.

See you doctor: most have minor surgery clinics.
