"If someone gave you a ring that was originally meant for someone else? " As long as it wasn't a PA/cock ring I'd be ok with it.

"It depends on who it was originally meant for. If a boyfriend gave me a ring that he bought for his ex, I'd be pissed. If a family member passed away before the ring that was bought for them could be given to them, and it was then given to me as a sentimental present, then I'd be over the moon " An engagement ring that was meant for his ex.

" I'd feel like I was second best and I would flip out. If he sold it and bought a new ring especially for me with the money he got from selling it, then fair enough, I could handle that.

"It depends on who it was originally meant for. An engagement ring that was meant for his ex. " Is it a ring you'd wear? If so, I'd enjoy wearing it. Although that wouldn't apply if it's given as an engagement ring. Then I think that's a different story. It should be chosen for the person it's going to.

It's not my ring I don't know what it looks like. I've just recieved text from a friend saying that when she and her ex were together they reserved rings and were paying them off. But the reservation was in his name so when they split she couldn't get her money/ring. She did however get a phone call this morning to say that he had paid the last couple of payments and collected the rings. They split up nearly a year ago. He's had 2 gf since and the 3rd is now pregnant. I said I bet he's selling them but then I thought if that were me and I got a ring that someone else had chosen I wouldn't be too impressed.

"I actually made the phone call joke first. #JustSaying." I wasn't joking. I genuinely thought a phone call. But anyway...

"If the new person doesn't know that it was originally chosen by/with someone else, then it's not an issue for them." Agreed. But imagine finding out. That someone else had chosen and even paid money towards your ring..

But it doesn't sound like this person has great taste in blokes anyway, so they might not be that surprised.

"I don't get some people. So what if it was going to be for someone else? They didn't in the end because they weren't worthy and now he's found someone else that is worthy of receiving it. I'd accept it and be happy that someone thought enough about me to want to give me it in the first place. " Id agree if the original person hasn't chosen it and paid towards it. That would be the part that would make me really annoyed.
