Have you ever had a political discussion online that changed your opinion of the subject being discussed?

Discuss.

No. Because most people don't actually understand what they're talking about or back up their statements with any type of facts or evidence.

And I was right to start with anyway

When wishy etc all used to be on here I enjoyed some of the politics threads as there was substance to them.

I openly admit I don't really understand or enjoy political discussions but I read them because I think I should get it.

Unfortunately a lot of the threads on here just turn into slanging matches and descend into nastiness very quickly. It's easy to see why people can become put off politics.

Newcastle and Gateshead

it was more interest when the likes of wishy, jane ect were here, because you could have a more in depth conversation and they backed it up and if they got something wrong they werent afraid to put their hands up and say so...

you learnt a lot as well as having a good debate, i wouldn't say my mind was changed, but certainly gave me a lot more to think about.....

now its just soundbites, and no retractions for untrue statements at all... they rely of people to close them, or just run away and pretend they never happen....
