new phone, but not on internet

I'm a total technophobe

But I have bought a new android phone

if I connect via wifi i can browse internet etc. But I cannot get on the internet using the phones browser it is a uhappy phone from a well known internet site. My new contract is with giff gaff and includes 3gb web. Is there something obvious I have missed

give it time to activate with giffgaff and check the settings

You may need to configure the apn settings. Give gif gaf a call and ask them for help

Have you turned off wifi and activated your phones packet data?

Giff gaff did tell me the settings and my mate set it all up transferred the number and this morning great number transferred i can make and receive calls.turned of the adult restrictions fantastic then notced that i could not get on fb. If i turn wifi on then it all works fine

I had to look up the correct apn settings for my eldest's cheapo Samsung and put them in manually, that was behaving the same as yours.

Yes I know it is ironic.

I don't think the phone is at fault as I can get on the net via wifi.

It has to be in the settings somewhere

The vodafone/o2/ee Sims seem to do it automatically, it's the virgin/asda/sainsburys piggyback ones that need fiddling with

Gift gaff use o2 and they are slow in switching on when phone is set up!

Mms on giffgaff is definitely the APN settings. There is some misleading info on their forum.

You can input the mms values in the same way as data listed above.
