Labour clutching at straw's maybe. They seem to change their policies week upon week.

The Torys always seem to bang on about immigration but labour now see it as a potential vote winner and are jumping on the immigration bandwagon. Which is a complete U turn to their policies when they were last in power.

It really seems like they and that vile man garage seem to be positioning themselves for a debate on immigration when there are so many more important issues ie the economy the countries infrastructure and the Nhs

Your assuming they work hard and others don't!.

I believe that's as biased as somebody going "bloody illegal immigrants cumin here eating swans".

The trouble with the entire debate is on one side you obviously attract the racist element who latch on to any talk about foreigners and on the other side you attract the liberal fluffy kitten brigade or the everything's fine as long as your working type!

I don't have that problem;

I live in Scotland, no point of a debate its going to be an off the Scale win for SNP

anyone care to bet the differ.

.

You promoted the division by saying one side works harder than the other.

I don't buy the argument about the NHS I find it rather insulting of a first works country who can't manage their own health care system, ie organising training, schooling your indigenous children to the skills you require and paying a wage for a job that you can live on!

Unfortunately in our 'blame culture' some will always look for others to blame or a bogeyman to focus on. Immigrants and benefit claimants are just two minority groups that are seen as fair game because they're easy targets.

I've always held the opinion that if someone is motivated to get off their bum, uproot their family and travel around the world looking for the opportunity of a better life that it's highly likely they're ambitious with a work ethic.

I've seen little that has dispelled that belief.

Sexy-bum - why do you feel the need to misquote people? You do it a lot.

You don't need to because you're more than capable of providing a valid argument without resorting to that.

.Not directly but it's the application of the words about" hard working immigrants".

And "old fashioned values". But as you say it's not that, and it's me who's misinterpreted it.

It's meant as the politicians are using the immigrants are a drain on us argument to distract from what I consider the real issues ie where does the nhs go from here and I don't subscribe to the throw more money at it ideology

Immigration why do we need it

Exportation of goods!

To improve this you firstly need to reduce your labour costs! And then debase your currency!.

Unlimited immigration is great because you get the initial benefit of extra services from extra population, and you also get a depressing effect on labour costs keeping it lower than inflation.

You then print money like it's going out of fashion and reduce your interest rates to practically 0% debasing your currency which has a two fold effect of

1 ruining peoples savings and forcing them to spend it, which increases your initial goods/ services.

2 cheapens your currency making it easy to export and harder to import, also giving you more inflation which helps with the spend not save culture.

I would add that cutting your infrastructure budget by 45% at this time of increasing population would obviously be stupid but the Tories did it anyhow, as it made the deficit look better than it was.

Georgie boys original prognosis for getting out of the banking mess the politicians created was export export export.

Unfortunately it hasn't happened, personally I think this is because the only people available for us to export to is Europe and the US and there both up the creek without a paddle, a future that appears we'll be in ourselves very soon.

What we're seeing in recent years is the symptoms of an exponential based economic system that's reached its limits of growth and therefore you have to create growth through importing people into the system and delaying the inevitable for a few more years!.

Sorry to go off on a tangent but I think it would be very wise to read political parties policies before debating this.

Ukip in my personal opinion have only won seats and votes due to people becoming prejudice against immigrants.

Through my business and political experiences I have seen that the percentage of people and the work ethic of the general public has gone down hill greatly, too high a percentage of people do not want to work anymore a lot seemed forced to work then do a bog standard job which has a domino effect on businesses. In the long run this does effect the economy.

Anyhow back to my original from what I have seen a smaller percentage of immigrants are not working compared to born and bred local people, so therefore benefit our economy and therefore each of is better in day to day life.

As Ukip have found it is a lot easier to promote negative news than to promote and people to remember positive figures.

I found it quite strange on the how far do you live from where you were born thread.

Nobody had gone anywhere!, I think this is reflected in my own beliefs, that most people want to stay where they call home.

So if there is hundreds of thousands of foreign immigrants, they ain't coming here through choice but necessity.

Yeah well I suppose if your ambition is having a job then yes! But most immigrant labour is low paid unskilled, in fact there's a huge number who aren't even paid the minimum wage, and this goes on at anywhere from farms to London hotels.

The fact of the matter is if you installed the living wage instead of the minimum wage, you'd have less immigration but also a higher cost of living, less immigration may sit better with the working classes but a higher cost of living is unthinkable to the upper classes.

Immigration in history has always been a tool of the upper classes, no different than interest rates!.

If you think about it for three centuries they got rid off the undesirables through emigration, I've no doubt the native Indians and the Aboriginals moaned like fuck

20yrs ago people like my nan & mum would have been breaking their backs picking it, two major changes since have been the rise of bullying supermarkets making more and more demands on the farms and a reluctance of young mums (as it has always been a predominantly female labour force) to work the fields. Nowadays to keep yields up rather than hands and knees picking in the rows they are strapped face down to a rig and towed through.
