"...loved and lost than never to have loved at all. I'm not so sure. Is there ever a happy ending? " We can choose to live our lives like a rollercoaster, or like the fibreglass white swan ride. If you choose the former, the ups have to come with downs, but god they're worth it, so don't worry OP, it will come. Personally, give me the rollercoaster every time. "A slight extension then... Can you love somebody (non-family), unconditionally and without commitment? Assumming they love you back in the same way. Is that even possible? " In my opinion it's a rare person who can love a non family member completely unconditionally, there is always some compromise to be made. Unconditional love without commitment? Can you expand on that a bit? Love doesn't have to be painful unless you want it to.

"A slight extension then... Can you love somebody (non-family), unconditionally and without commitment? Assumming they love you back in the same way. Is that even possible? " It's possible but not probable. The conditionality will be that you will always be checking with each other that no one is breaking the other conditions (the agreement/rules). That's a relationship and it has conditions. Even when we say we love family unconditionally it doesn't mean we will accept all behaviours and not place conditions on those.

""Everyone wants to fall in love. But I think more people are in love with the theory of love. If you're looking in from the outside, it looks so beautiful. On the inside, it's scary because it can take over your life. It's the strongest emotion but also the darkest. It can put you on a high for days, but it can wrap an anchor around your feet and drown you in less than a minute." Calia Read. That quote sums it up for me..." Good quote.

So true but when there is that spark with some one so very special , isn't it worth the heart ache .

"A slight extension then... Can you love somebody (non-family), unconditionally and without commitment? Assumming they love you back in the same way. Is that even possible? " Isn't that almost the definition of 'first love'? That intense, blind emotion, when your heart's on fire and the smoke gets... I think after that particular rollercoaster-ride, once we have picked ourselves out of the wreckage, we learn to engage the safety bar the next time. That's where a certain degree of conditionality creeps in, I think. Are you ok OP? You sound like you need someone to talk to. Mr ddc

"Are you ok OP?" Actually I am. For once I know what I want, and how it'll be achieved. Fascinating to hear peoples views, thoughts and quotes about love. Such an emotive subject, and everyone has an experience and therefore an invaluable opinion.

"Meh. Love is stressful, annoying, rage enduring at times but I wouldn't swap if for anything. Well maybe a Manhatten Penthouse" Agree!!
