what makes u say India might not.reach semis. all their batsman are in.form ashwin is getting turn.and bounce umesh is bowling with pace u have mohit who can bowl intelligently .their Fielding is even.better than SA. so I bet India will go through to semis.

I've got to say I've lost a bit of interest in this world cup. it is way to bater friendly, the average score this tournament oust be well over 300, the wickets are too flat and the boundaries are too close, 60 metres shouldn't be a 6 it's ridiculous

There's been some fantastic cricket in this world cup - was NZ vs Aus batsman friendly?

The first day of most test matches in England for starters! There's so much lateral movement because of the damp climate, - that's why Anderson for example has by far the most wickets at home in it's unique conditions!!

Pathetic, is the only word to describe the English performance in this world cup. Mind you this has been the case for a few years now in the 1 day game.

My feelings are that the management and coaching team should seriously consider their positions and do the right thing, Resign. Then we can hopefully get in people who actually know the 1 day game, even if they may be Aussies et al!!!.

The players also need to take a long hard look at themselves and ask am I good enough and do I really want to play for England or just take the money.

As for KP no thanks he is toxic history now.

Colin Graves the new ECB chairman has a difficult task ahead, being a Yorkie, I hope he doesn't bottle it and is ruthless to the core of the game. By hell its needed now!

oh I see - but one day cricket is always trying to produce a high scoring pitch because that puts bums on seats - catch 22, I guess!

....but even then, the very best bowlers find a way, - remember Wasim Akram? That guy was awesome in all conditions, even the flat slow tracks of the subcontinent, where he obviously played most of his cricket, - the guy's a legend!

There was a contest between bat and ball today because England batted so ineptly.

That was a good track. The Bangladesh score was under and scoring runs was simple with good timing and footwork.

I don't think Jordan was out. I don't know how that decision got made when from one angle he looked a goner and from another he didn't. With any uncertainty it's not out.

However, when you're relying on one decision to save your entire tournament and your only victory is against Scotland....? Good riddance quite frankly.

I blame central contracts and wages, cars etc.

Once your in, your in, play how you like and for a while, you wont be dropped.

They all have nice Jag's, its to easy.

I havent got the guts to stand infront of the balls they do, but then they are trained to deal with it and wear the correct gear.

Wrong players, wrong coach, wrong tactics, too much chopping and changing, no heart and not as good as what they think they are.

Get the south africans back in, oh and a welsh guy, that lot used to do ok

A coincedance about the contracts maybe?

We played Australia when they were in transistion and the weather played its part too.

Yeah we beat India away but again they wernt who they were and well, look at them since, been brilliant.

The team has changed so much over the last two years I dont see how it has had a chance to get long in the tooth. Bell, Anderson, Broad all offer experience and thats part of the balance it needs. On that basis we cant put KP back in or Trott.

We are playing catch up now, somehow sunk behind West Indies and by the looks, the small nations are catching up. Nick some of their players maybe?

I dont know the answer, we can all offer suggestions but I hope the answer is found, and soon.

We have some really bright and talented players coming through. Alongside the likes of Bell, Broad and Anderson let's give them a chance. What is needed is a coach who will instill confidence and allow players to play without fear. Look at what Lehmann has done with Australia. I would look to someone like Michael Vaughan who was a great captain and I'm sure would be a great manager.

I've not heard that quote but it wouldn't surprise me. Downton is covering his own arse there, it's because of the restrictions downtown put on the incoming coach that all the best coaches ruled themselves out of becoming England's coach.

I can suggest Jim Allenby (will be at Somerset now after leaving Glamorgan) but other than that Im stuck. Qualifies but is Australian.

I've never rated Steve Finn, its harsh to single him out but having watched him in a Glam v Middlesex game I thought he farted the ball out for a tall lad. No aggression what soever, its just an example.

If we have some sharp rapid lad, get him in as thats what I think we need aswell as a few more batters. Proper batters. Looking back its as if we have coached it out of them. We could do with another Andy Flower now more than ever.

There is talent out there, we need to accept the one day game has changed enormously and inevitably that will filter through to the 5 day game, so we need to adapt.

There have been so many mistakes made in terms of selection, batting line up and tactics in this World Cup that you do have to look at the management and say we need a big shake up.

Yeah, it was like an Era. The T20 success aswell. Wouldnt it be amazing and is just whats needed to get back to then.

Think back to Duncan Fletcher too, maybe we dont have a good enough coach from england. 2005 got a lot of interest back in cricket and it saw anhuge influx of kids and females into the game.

I dont think Finn is quick, he was on par for pace with all of the Glammy boys that night, perhaps Finn was on the way back from injury?

Finn has had injuries but is capable of 95mph when fit and in form, just needs to have the backing of a coach and captain to say let it rip. I suspect he is too damaged now to make it at the top level, but remember how Mitchell Johnson got pummelled for years before becoming the force he is today.

Ravi Patel is a good young left arm spinner coming through at Middx who was in the England A squad. Spins it miles and may provide the variation we are missing. Think there is a decent young leggie at Kent (name escapes me) who looks a good prospect as well. Hopefully we will see a few of them in the coming years.

There have been so many mistakes made in terms of selection, batting line up and tactics in this World Cup that you do have to look at the management and say we need a big shake up.

I dont think Finn is quick, he was on par for pace with all of the Glammy boys that night, perhaps Finn was on the way back from injury?

Ive always been impressed with stokes, someone you'd think we could bring the best out of with bat, ball and in the field.

What happened with Boyd Rankin? We nick him and then he's not good enough? Any decent spinners out there other than Ali?

As you say it needs a huge shake up from top to bottom.

Finn has had injuries but is capable of 95mph when fit and in form, just needs to have the backing of a coach and captain to say let it rip. I suspect he is too damaged now to make it at the top level, but remember how Mitchell Johnson got pummelled for years before becoming the force he is today.

Ravi Patel is a good young left arm spinner coming through at Middx who was in the England A squad. Spins it miles and may provide the variation we are missing. Think there is a decent young leggie at Kent (name escapes me) who looks a good prospect as well. Hopefully we will see a few of them in the coming years.

I can suggest Jim Allenby (will be at Somerset now after leaving Glamorgan) but other than that Im stuck. Qualifies but is Australian.

I've never rated Steve Finn, its harsh to single him out but having watched him in a Glam v Middlesex game I thought he farted the ball out for a tall lad. No aggression what soever, its just an example.

If we have some sharp rapid lad, get him in as thats what I think we need aswell as a few more batters. Proper batters. Looking back its as if we have coached it out of them. We could do with another Andy Flower now more than ever.

I think Finn is a classic example of how we have got it wrong recently. He is quick, and has the ability to be really quick. But his confidence has been shot to pieces by being part of the England set up. You could say the same about Stokes, incredibly talented but somehow not part of the world cup squad. There is talent out there, we need to accept the one day game has changed enormously and inevitably that will filter through to the 5 day game, so we need to adapt.

The names you should be looking out for are Sam Billings(wk batsman), Jason Roy(surrey explosive batsman) and Adam Riley(right off break slow bowler from kent. Not sure England would select though because they have a fixation that spinners should be able to bat(never seemed to bother other countries with their spinners)

I would like to add tyrone mills. Genuinely fast bowler and is capable of throwing the bat.

There are lots of good talent coming through, and its about time they started getting this new blood in....stuff the central contracts and get rid of Peter Moores, he doesn't know his a** from his elbow!

We are so far behind I don't think we are even playing the same game anymore,

Peter Moore's has been sacked once why bring him back? There must be something going on within the England squad every single person looks out of form and and low on confidence, even in test cricket

Do England have one bowler who can consistently bowl a Yorker? That's such an important tool to have in limited overs Cricket yet I haven't seen one since Simon Jones.

England's bowlers have been equally as bad as the batsmen!

It has been a disaster for England: who can honestly say that we are confident now of even beating Afghanistan??

There are many reasons why we have failed - the draw has been about as unkind as it could have been. Opening up with defeats against Australia and New Zealand were always likely - and always likely to erode fragile confidence quickly. Hardly any of the squad play T20 under the current system - either at home or in the IPL - at a time when the skills learned in that format are increasingly important in the 50 over game. Look how amazing Maxwell is. All his skills have been refined in the IPL. Key players like Anderson look too old for the ODIs now and where is the flair in our batting line up?

The main reason, I think, however, is mismanagement: Tredwell hasn't figured, yet would have offered an economical mid-innings option to the captain and would have given much needed variety - four right arm seamers of very similar pace and type just enables set batsmen to profit. Spinners have been the most economical bowlers in most games, so why aren't we playing a specialist spinner?

Hales was not long back the top T20 batsman in the world, yet can't get a game. Buttler, our most inventive batsman, often can't get a bat till it's too late. Why not bat him higher? Playing Bell, Balance and Root shows the lack of ambition: they have their merits in the longer format but aren't explosive enough for the modern game. The decision to move Taylor from three to six on the eve of the tournament was incomprehensible as he had done well there. As was the decision to not give Woakes the new ball. The decision to also play an ODI series in Sri Lanka prior to the tournament also made no sense: wickets there are as different to Australia as you can get.

In short, get rid of Moores and Downton. Whitaker too: poor selection led to the Ashes debacle and poor selection continues to be a problem. Open up the regime to enable top players to play in the IPL and establish a franchise competition mid-season in England too. And abandon the English mindset of rejecting flair.

Ultimately we had a good enough team to be favourites (eventual runners up) in the Champions Trophy just a couple of years back. Our selection, preparation and mindset has let us down this time. Moores to go
