People who walk slightly behind you

I've forgotten how much this annoys me.

There's no one else on the pavement, just that 1 person about 10 foot away, makes no effort to overtake and you can hear every footstep.

Good job we have phones these days. Get phone out slow down and force the overtake.

10 feet away? Really?

You should turn round shouting abruptly how you need the whole pavement to yourself.

This!

10 feet is a long way away, try 10cm behind you. THAT is uncomfortable!

I agree with the op about being followed like that, it does feel like an invasion of privacy, but I'm with the others, 10 ft isn't that bad. 5 ft gets me jumpy

This reminds me of my dad. A long time ago he had a new hearing aid fiitted. Walking back to the car he heard footsteps and thought the person behind is very close, anyway he speeded up a bit and the person was still as close. So he stopped, moved to the side and looked. No one there for the first time in years he could hear his own footsteps !!!!!!

Imagine how annoying it is for the person it is behind to keep an acceptable distance away, because your too bloody slow and keep meandering all over the pavement!

He'd find the rear worse. Probably.

If I join a footpath and notice I'm slightly behind a lone female I'll try and drop back or get ahead so as not to cause her any alarm.

Other than that, yeah, ten feet is plenty of space.

It might not have been 10 feet, I didn't have a measuring tape with me. But I could hear every footstep.
