"Neighbours near a school in Yorkshire have complained about the noise of children playing so the school has had to ban afternoon break and stagger the amount of children allowed out at lunchtime to prevent a noise abatement order being given I live near a school and I love the sound of children playing in the playground, they are only being children, they need to play, run and be out in the fresh air Let them out to be children, playtime is important! " I think children from about 4 to 7 get 10 minutes in the afternoon. Must be all the swingers being put off their swing.....

"Shurrup grumpy! or Ill set some kids on to you Huh bet most a the noise is made by the girls anyway xx " Yeh cos they're running away from the stinky boys I do remember a time at the school near me,it was lunchtime so they were all out playing when there was a MASSIVE clap of thunder, the whole school screamed in unison,I wonder what the neighbours of the school in Yorshire would have thought about that

"There are a couple of schools near me - admittedly, not close enough to hear them, but there is something so innocent and...oh I don't know, just nice about the sound of children playing and laughing. Wow...what a miserable world we live in if even the sound of children at play offends! " I agree Sassy, its lovely in the summer when im sitting in the garden and you hear all the laughter from the playground or the singing from the hall

"Was there not a school there when they moved in? If not, they should have objected at the planning stage." the above comment about was there not a scholalready there?,reminded me of famous tv personalities and pop stars who move to the country to get away from the crowded city and then complained about the smells of the country side(the horse manure etc)and the noise of the animals like the cows mooing etc, they know exactly what is involved but just want to change everything to suit them i am afraid!.

"the parents blocking the roads at 9pm and 3pm." They must take education seriously round your way - i'm guessing the kids will be too knackered to make much noise!

"I didnt think there was a law that governed noise in the day time?" There is a law against noise at any time, I think but am not sure the levels differ depending on the time of day and common sense should prevail, children playing on a designated playground is a natural thing. If anyone should be chastised for it then surely the council are to blame for giving planning permission for a school near houses or houses near schools (perhaps many years ago before PC went crazy) That said the Council in Darlaston gave permission for a new housing complex opposite a school recently, the houses were of a modern terraced style and the provision of parking facilities for residents was not imposed on the planners so not only has it made traffic conditions worse but the extra vehicles parked outside the new houses has added to the dangers for the children. I have never fallen foul of Planning Authorities but some of the projects they pass make me wonder if they even looked at what they were doing whilst some of those they reject appear to be for stupid reasons.

I think it is OK to make noise during the day, but!!! It is not the noise, but the regularity that you can complain about. For instance, if you have a party on a Wednesday afternoon one week and the neighbours are inconvenienced, tough! But if it happens every day or even every week, it is open to complaint! Happened to me playing music in the garden on one day.Neighbour complained. Info was from Environmental Health. Just leave the school and bulldoze the houses! Love the sound of kids having fun

" Reminds a story I was told of about Sting, the former "Police" frontman. He moved into the Wiltshire countryside west of Salisbury and moaned about the noise of the planes flying from the fairly nearby Boscombe Down airbase. OK! But this is where it gets silly. Some of you may know that Sting has his own aircraft, but it is no Piper Cherokee or even a Lear jet. Oh no, it`s only a fekkin Boing 747 jumbo jet!!! Even dafter is where he is/was allowed to keep it ..... Boscombe Down airbase!!!! Doh! But back to the OP. It is usually so quiet where I live and it used to be so great to here the laughing and occasional shrieks from the next-door`d grandchildren when they were smaller and came to visit. In my job I`m frequently marooned by playgrounds full of children of all ages. As long as they leave me alone to sleep in peace, I`m quite happy too have them around.
