What to do in the garden?

Here's the deal, spring is approaching and I'm soon to be having a bit of a tidy in the garden. Our kitchen is at the back of our house with a pointless path down the side to where the old back door was and the window looks out to a breeze block wall.

It's not a great view and needs disguising. The ground underneath is concrete covered with gravel, so planting climbing plants is a no go. As is tearing it down.

It had previously been painted to lighten it but this doesn't hide the block outline.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Toyed with the idea of moss, but I have read that the 'moss graffiti' concept doesn't work, has anyone tried it with any success?

Thanks all.

Titz Towers, North Notts

How about some troughs for the climbing plants, and perhaps put runner beans in them?

here and there, thereabouts

Try garden screening, you can get different types,as well as wall mounted planters and decorations.

Or If you know anyone artistic, get them to pain a courtyard vista and place a water fountain at the bottom then place potted plants around it, utilising the space.

Thanks for those tips, nights be a bit narrow for troughs. I'll check dimensions online and see if any will be thin enough. Do you think climbing plants will survive with such limited root space.

I'll ponder the scene idea too, I worry that the texture of the blocks might spoil the effect.

Mirror... Love it. Then I can check I've cleaned the back of plates without turning them over.

Not a gardener by any stretch but.

Guttering fixed onto this wall can be used, I've seen, strawberries grown this way and tomatoes, I'm sure there will be other things ?

Or;

Kango through the concrete path and form enough space for planting ?

Edge with bricks or a decorative edging stone, for cheapness you could simply replace the gravel around your chosen plants.

Unless you have solid concrete next to the blocks a climber will be fine. The roots will find their earth. Our passion flower and honeysuckle did ok on a partially shaded fence.

It's the thought that counts.

Answering in my best combine harvester accent- You can get your potato's chitting and carrots planted , but carrots need protecting from frost as would other veg for now.

OP - you could put climbers into pots, perhaps a grape vine against the wall. A hydrangea or rhododendron can look stunning in a large pot plus grow fairly tall to cover it up. You need the correct compost though.
