but being a single parent to 3 kids i have to spread the buying out over as long as possible or they'd all end up with no presents and beans on toast for christmas dinner.

i seriously do all my shopping in one hit as near to xmas as i can... but only buy for close family so thats 8 pressies . i dont send cards but donate to my favourite charity in lieu .im a bit bah humbug i guess??? its just too commercialised .....

omg a bloke that does shopping!

I generally just keep an eye open all year, and if I spot something that would make a good birthday/christmas present then I buy it if the price is right.

Like to save stuff with Christmas themes until it is December though.

With cheap posting dates so early, some people do need to buy stuff well early, buying advent calendar early November to ensure it makes it before 1st December

mine are done wrapped and in the family bags apart from the big pressies cant stand the crowds , and waiting for hours to be served and then trailing around due to not having in what you want my idea of hell -

however if it meant my perfect pair og shoes thats different

my mum is the best...she has been buying things for my 3 little ones' stockings for me in canada, she has stockings with their names on it from the last christmas we spent in canada and she is even wrapping it all for me and sending it over in a few weeks time. She knows how hard it is for me to afford a lot for the winks and does her bit to help me out.

I used to buy presents for my sister and brother-in-law at the Royal Show which used to be held in either June or July. Being countryside/shooting/hunting types, it was about the only place that inspired me into choosing the right gifts! Sadly, the Royal Show has now gone

We had both families over for Xmas dinner last year and spent a small fortune on goodies etc so it's someone else's turn this year, which means our house will resemble Scrooge's if you looked in the cupboards. Not much point buying a load of stuff that won't get eaten. We haven't decided who we're 'invading' yet though.

That is when i am SO glad i have no firneds or family!!!

I buy about 5 pressies - and thats it!!!

And i dont buy them til just beofre xmas itself- like the 19th or something, i hate xmas, and usually try and work it so i can avoid it as best as poss!!!

Can understand that - I brought up my kids that Christmas is about family time, we play games, enjoy nice food, include friends and generally have a lovely time etc.. but we do not follow that madness of buying ever greater and more expensive presents. So no cards or biggish pressies but heaps of fun and cozy nights in.
