The TV licence does not have a long-term future

Bradford

So some MPs met to discuss the BBC and have come to the conclusion that the fee is "becoming harder and harder to justify".

Here's the killer, they are trying to close that loophole..... "We recommend that as a minimum the licence fee must be amended to cover catch-up television as soon as possible."

Also, it looks like they want to copy Germany, where every household pays a "Broadcast levy", whether they watch tv or not.

Here's the article http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-31623659

Because a 'Broadcast Levy' is much easier to justify!

Perhaps they should just call it an 'Household Fun Tax'?

No licence fee, no BBC - not in its current format.

why cant they simply fund themselves same as all the other channels through advertisement. The BBC are and always will be nothing more than a media propaganda mouth piece for whichever governments in power as its the respective government that gives the yes or no to there tv licensing fees.

in terms of serious journalism reporting there up there with play school.

Because the broadcasting license fee isn't actually collected on behalf of the BBC, it's collected from everyone who wants to watch live TV.

The BBC ask for money from this collected money, no other TV channels do, but it's not for the BBC. Honest.

Idk doesn't make sense but almost does if you understand that people can find loopholes round anything and spout BS when they want to to justify themselves and pretend it's not specifically for them.

And as for the OP, no i'm not gonna pay for something i don't use or want, that's just stupid. This government just want money, money, money to give to their fat, greedy friends and they can fuck right off. Im not giving my life to them, not a single bloody person in power deserves my life. God am really angry now.

Central

I am so grateful for BBC tv and radio when I see the crap overseas. I hope the current system is maintained roughly like present.
