The Chilcot Enquiry

with the numerous times the public report into the chilcot enquiry gets delayed in relation to investigating the invasion of Iraq it does make me think that all were gonna get in the end is a complete white wash.

I never expected anything different really its just a shame for the family of David Kelly (wmd inspector) who refused to be bullied by Tony Blair and Alistar Cambell into lying that there was wmds in Iraq when as proved later there wasn't. Personally I don't swallow the he committed suicide his death at the time was very convienient for the pro lets invade Iraq lobby.

Strong suspicion that the powers that be will be trying to supress information - why delay till after the election otherwise? And yes, always doubted the whole business over David Kelly. Wasn't he supposed to have gone to the middle of a field, taken an overdose AND slashed his wrists, if memory serves me well? Odd, to say the least

good point I forgot about the elections looming in May yes his death is very odd up there with the suicide of Gary Webb who shot himself twice in the head for exposing the cia flooding its own citizens with crack cocaine to fund buying arms for the Nicaraguan contra rebels to overthrow the nic government in power at the time

I believe what they say. Why would the government lie? I'm glad that since the start of the perfectly legal war started our silly human rights and freedom of speech has been eroded and online activity is monitored really closely by our brave boys and girls at MFI. Yay government that's what I say.

Responsibility for the death of David Kelly lies with Tony Blair. That man was hung out to dry as a scapegoat. Politics aside, the way that Dr Kelly was treated and his subsequent death is a stain that will never really be washed away.

I also think that the Chilcott enquiry will be a whitewash.

Brilliant post, my only criticism is that the banks own everything (they have used our deposits to buy them) not just the worlds governments and oil companies.

As for the Lusitania, it was carrying ammunitions and was therefore a legitimate military target.

the sinking still remains a mystery however its sinking certainly did galvanise public opinion in getting the majority of the populace to go and join up to fight the germans in the 1st world war. could it be that the allies sunk there own cruise liner to galvanise public opinion?

In the 1980s the cia wanted to carry out a coup in Nicaragua but were refused arms funding to supply there contra rebels by there own government.

So in order to carry out there own agenda they took to flooding there own country with crack cocaine and used the profits made from drug dealing to buy arms for the contra rebels in the hope they could put in puppet more usa friendly government.

The political soundbite back then under the Reagan Regime was "The War on Drugs,"

20 years later we now have "The war on terror."

Taking into account the cia flooded its own country with crack cocaine is it such a crazy notion that the cia may well be responsible for the twin towers attack ? it certainly got them what they wanted ie the war on terror?

why did it suddenly become ok for usa to send out special force death squads they cud easily have taken bin laden alive ....but imagine if theu did and put him on trial in front of the world and bin laden turned round and said he had nothing to do with it as he was at home at the time watching corrie with his family ??

Not so much a conspiracy as more a fact reported on at the time by a journalist called Gary Webb. There is a film about it out called Shoot The Messanger starring Jeremy Renner as Gary Webb.

After the cia director retired and some time after webs suicide from shooting himself twice in the head..the retired cia director came out the closet to confirm webs journalist report that indeed the cia were involved in the flooding of crack cocaine into its own country.

whose the crackpot again exactly

correct Reagans title for it was the war on drugs turned out he wasn't aware that his own intelligence secret service agency were the biggest drug pushers in American history ,,instead of titling it the war on drugs he should have retitles it war on our own intelligence agency.

who was the cia director you refer to and have you a link to his input..?

webb wasn't moved by his then employer he resigned theres a big difference ime sure yr aware.

Also the cia used there contacts in the much bigger newspapers such as los angelese times and mainstay tv news channels to discredit him and his story.

The name of the cia director who admitted the story is clearly named at the end of the film ..kill the messanger.

20 years later after the event 7 people have since come forward to collaborate Webbs story ..at the time they were to afaid for fear of having there careers ruined like Gary webs was for daring to print the story that the cia were flooding its own citizens with crack to fund buying arms for the Nicaraguan contras.

Do you go along with the cia report into webs suicide that he committed suicide by shooting himself in the head ...twice ?

May I recommend watching the film Shoot the messanger ...it certainly gives food for thought.

Listen your the one quoting a retired CIA director so furnish the name and the actual link to what they have actually said on the record, if i want to watch a film i shall do so but not in order to give your claim credibility..

Webb was moved to another part of the same paper and then he resigned, he was effectively downgraded..

where is the link to the CIA doing some discredit with the story Webb told..?

3 major publications, Washington Post, New York Times and the Los Angeles times all carried out their own investigations and none came to the same conclusion as Webb did. The LA times had 17 reporters on the issue..

the report on his death was done by the local coroner, his own wife was of the opinion he had killed himself too..

New documents released by the CIA show how the agency worked with some of the country’s largest newspapers to destroy San Jose Mercury News’ Gary Webb, a journalist who famously exposed the CIA’s connection to the cocaine trade in the “Dark Alliance” investigation.

Tactics used to destroy Webb, who was found dead in his apartment in 2004 with two .38-caliber bullets in the head, included a massive smear campaign by journalists working with newspapers such as the L.A. Times. A report by The Intercept’s Ryan Devereaux reveals the paper used as many as 17 journalists to discredit Webb and his exposé.

The LA times had 17 reporters on the issue..

the report on his death was done by the local coroner, his own wife was of the opinion he had killed himself too..

will this suffice ?

The American Cia pushed crack cocaine on there own citizens to fund buying arms? what utter rubbish. Yet another fantasist crack pot conspiracy theorist

I think it was called the Contra scandal and occurred during Reagan's administration. I'm not an expert on it though....

"

Actually I think the Contra scandal was about illegally selling arms to Iran in order to raise money for the Contra rebels.

Because you're the one making the allegations therefore the burden is on you to supply the proof. Of course you don't have to provide either the name of this CIA director or any link to substantiate your allegations but then don't be surprised if people treat them as what they are, unsubstantiated allegations.

your basing a lot of your claims on a hollywood movie..

one can look on the web and find a story to fit one's conspiracy theories about pretty much anything..

look on wiki its there, Webb had just sold his house due to not being able to gain employment with a major newspaper (strange that he couldn't unless of course the Cia managed that with all of the mainstream papers in the US too) and his wife was of the opinion it was suicide..

why would an agency like the Cia wait 8 years after his claims were made public to off him..?

and why off him anyway, as far as the media and their readers were concerned he was not news..

and why would they use a method potentially so easy to be scrutinised by those who look for conspiracies..?

they have a track record of offing people far more efficiently than a suspicious to some suicide..

btw it was the coroner who deemed it was possible and not unknown for suicides to fire 2 rounds, albeit unusual..

and John Deutch and webb, where is the link to what you say ..?

the document you're looking for is on the cia website foia cia dot gov .... the document is entitled "managing a nightmare: cia public affairs and the drug conspiracy story"

it's a document that was released on 18th of september 2014 after a freedom of information request

i got this information when i read an article in the washington post ... i think that the post is a reliable enough mainstream media source and has a proven record of exposing american government wrong doings.

And you're basing your beliefs on a film!

The difference between a film and a documentary is that a film does not have to true, even if it says it's based on true events it is always considered a work of fiction and, as such, can not be easily legally challenged.

What is required to substantiate these claims is clear links to the source documents and evidence. Until you can provide that this is just unsubstantiated allegations, another unproven conspiracy not really worth the effort of listening to.

Webb's assertions were not deemed to be facts by many including his own paper who moved him after several investigations into his claims showed to be not proven..

who was the cia director you refer to and have you a link to his input..?

webb wasn't moved by his then employer he resigned theres a big difference ime sure yr aware.

The LA times had 17 reporters on the issue..

the report on his death was done by the local coroner, his own wife was of the opinion he had killed himself too..

will this suffice ?

New documents released by the CIA show how the agency worked with some of the country’s largest newspapers to destroy San Jose Mercury News’ Gary Webb, a journalist who famously exposed the CIA’s connection to the cocaine trade in the “Dark Alliance” investigation.

Tactics used to destroy Webb, who was found dead in his apartment in 2004 with two .38-caliber bullets in the head, included a massive smear campaign by journalists working with newspapers such as the L.A. Times. A report by The Intercept’s Ryan Devereaux reveals the paper used as many as 17 journalists to discredit Webb and his exposé.

internet..?

must be true then..

the information you couldn't be bothered to find yourself! source..The film makers of Kill The Messenger Film

The name of the cia director who later collaborate Gary Webb was John Deutch.

"In 1998 the cia released a 400 page report that acknowledged the agency associated with members of the contra movement who associated with drug trafficking."

Consumed with the Clinton / Monica Lewinsky scandal at the time the American national media largely ignored the report,"

Also at the end of the film current secretary of state John Kerry on video being interviewed also accepting and collaborating Gary Webbs story ....that The cia were indeed responsible in flloding there own citizens with crack cocaine in order to buy arms for the contras with the profits made from drug trafficking.

As I said its all there in the film maybe as a point its a good idea to actually look for the truth rather than attempt to dismiss discredit someone based on nothing more than your own self belief that your always right and never wrong

Until you can provide that this is just unsubstantiated allegations, another unproven conspiracy not really worth the effort of listening to."

er well you know the current americam secretary of state John Kerry...he on video directly after the film collaborating webs story so true film and directly after film vid interview with Kerry :P ......must try harder lol

you don't work for the cia by any chance do you? you seem over keen to want to discredit him to as I said the name of the ex cia director is on the end of the film or you can use google...its not that difficult to find. Why should I do your research for you??

Because you're the one making the allegations therefore the burden is on you to supply the proof. You're the one making the allegations here but refusing to provide the backing evidence to substantiate it. If you want people to believe you I think you're the one who needs to wake up.

And trying to discredit those of us pushing you to provide that evidence won't help your case much either. Stick to the point and produce your evidence.

whilst its an internal review about the issue and how the press etc dealt with it it does give some corroboration to hoe Webb's own paper reviewed his claims later..

Anything on that film, whether true or not, can only be legally considered as part of a work of fiction, not evidence of anything. If John Kerry gave an interview relating to this matter then that interview should be available somewhere other than just on the movie. If it's only available on the movie then it's part of the movie, that is part of the work of fiction (think Forest Gump in same room as JFK) and not evidence.

In 1986, the Reagan Administration acknowledged that funds from cocaine smuggling helped fund the Contra rebels, but stated that it was not authorized by the US government or resistance leaders. The Kerry Committee found that Contra drug links included payments to known drug traffickers by the U.S. State Department to carry out humanitarian assistance to the Contras. A CIA internal investigation found that agents had worked with drug traffickers to support the Contra program, but found no evidence of any conspiracy by CIA or its employees to bring drugs into the United States.

how mature is that..

is that because (as with other threads) you are unable to back up with any credible source your claims once they are questioned..?

you have had several questions which you have ducked or responded with hyperbole ..

there is a name for posters such as you.."

think if u care to read the posts ive responded to all your requests and demands even done your research for you. I don't see how you can hold me accountable for your own lack of desire in not wanting to find the truth and believe only what u choose to ,,,that's your prerogative to do with as you please.

I apologise if I have upset the status quo of your own beliefs in bringing to light that just maybe the American cia are not the whiter than white good guys you believe them to be.

"In 1986, the Reagan Administration acknowledged that funds from cocaine smuggling helped fund the Contra rebels, but stated that it was not authorized by the US government or resistance leaders. The Kerry Committee found that Contra drug links included payments to known drug traffickers by the U.S. State Department to carry out humanitarian assistance to the Contras. A CIA internal investigation found that agents had worked with drug traffickers to support the Contra program, but found no evidence of any conspiracy by CIA or its employees to bring drugs into the United States.

well they would do wouldn't they not a very independent investigation when there investigating themselves ..its a bit like allowing a criminal to trial themselves ..obviously there gonna find themselves innocent arnt they "

Then give us something better. I'm.open to the evidence if you produce it.

The Kerry Committee report was the result of hearings of the United States Senate Subcommittee on Terrorism, Narcotics, and International Operations chaired by Senator John Kerry. The report found the United States Department of State had paid drug traffickers. Some of these payments were after the traffickers had been indicted by federal law enforcement agencies on drug charges or while traffickers were under active investigation by these same agencies. The Kerry investigation lasted two and a half years and heard scores of witnesses; its report was released on April 13, 1989.[1] The final report was 400 pages, with an additional 600 page appendix. The committee stated

It is clear that individuals who provided support for the Contras were involved in drug trafficking...and elements of the Contras themselves knowingly received financial and material assistance from drug traffickers.[2]

Meanwhile, Kerry's staff began their own investigations, and on October 14, 1986 issued a report which exposed illegal activities on the part of Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North, who had set up a private network involving the National Security Council and the CIA to deliver military equipment to right-wing Nicaraguan rebels (Contras). In effect, North and certain members of the President's administration were accused by Kerry's report of illegally funding and supplying armed militants without the authorization of Congress.[4]

Kerry's staff investigation, based on a yearlong inquiry and interviews with 50 unnamed sources, was said to raise "serious questions about whether the United States has abided by the law in its handling of the contras over the past three years."[5]

The Kerry Committee report found that "the Contra drug links included...payments to drug traffickers by the U.S. State Department of funds authorized by the Congress for humanitarian assistance to the Contras, in some cases after the traffickers had been indicted by federal law enforcement agencies on drug charges, in others while traffickers were under active investigation by these same agencies."[3] The US State Department paid over $806,000 to known drug traffickers to carry humanitarian assistance to the Contras.[2]

It's clear that the CIA is not whiter than white and that, in pursuit of it's objectives, has definitely crossed a line that most people would feel should not be crossed.

However Isaac's allocation that the CIA was directly involved in importing illegal drugs, in particular crack cocaine, into the US can not he substantiated, even the Kerry Committee did not find or conclude that.

no you have not, plain and simple and for anyone looking objectively it's evident..

and stop it with the facile bollocks that anyone who questions an issue has to be on 'one side' of the debate..

its a cop out and a not very good attempt at a smoke screen to hide behind..

It isn't supposition. Twenty years after the story broke. Reporters from the various newspapers such as the LA times who set about discrediting web have come forward to state that they were contacted by the cia and told to smear and discredit Webb.

They were afraid to at the time as they feared for there lives and careers. As with Webb who after breaking the story was refused to work in journalism again leading to his very suspicious suicide.

John Deutch the acting cia director at the time, some years after his retirement did admit that fellow cia operators were allowing Nicaraguan drug lords free passage to ship there drugs into the usa. But he adds he had no knowledge of this.

He would say that though wouldn't he lol.

With regards to John Kerries interview, maybe you are watching a different video interview on the one I watched, he admitted that taking into account the fact that these drug lords were allowed free drug passage routes into the States it is highly likely that our intelligence services were turning a blind eye. He continues to state that the cia had friendly business meetings in Nicaragua with these people.

Getting back to the ops post.

Its an enquiry created by the establishment who have selected one of there own to do the enquiry into investigating whether the war in Iraq was illegal. Obviously its going to be a complete and utter whitewash.

If there was any justice in the world Both Bush and Blair would have been tried in the Hauge by now for crimes against humanity.

The fact Tony Blair is still allowed to duck his hearing at this enquiry and the fact that after the Iraq war the powers that be gave him the title "Peace Envoy To The Middle East should tell you that the Chilcot Enquiry Is simply going to be a complete whitewash to the public. The only thing the public are going to get from this enquiry is the tax bill. Maybe we could write to Tony on advice for best ways to avoid paying tax on it.

Yeah we can't undo the past....

But it'll be nice to watch him squirm ...and who knows maybe he will hold his hands up and seek forgiveness by offering a full-on confession that it was handled badly and people needlessly died partly because of his ineptitude ....

Or maybe the report will totally exonerated him....

We'll have to wait and see....
