One of my all time favourite films and the motion tracker noise still makes me nervous lol !

Director Neil Blomkamp ( District 9 , Elysium ) is making an Alien movie !!

Apparently a direct sequel to Aliens and a final finish for Ripley !

Excited ?? Yes i am muchly !!

Thats why they are doing it though, 3 and 4 were poor and didnt give her a proper ending really, hence why this will be a direct follow on to Aliens

Unfortunately the whole series was ruined although Alien 3 wasnt a bad film and could have been a whole load better if Fincher had been left alone to make the movie he wanted to make. Promethus held such great promise but failed to deliver and AvP likewise with the second being one of the worst films ever made in my opinion.

Hopefully he can make a good film but only time will tell

Absolutely and a little know fact for you.... When the Alien burst out of John Hurts chest all the actors knew it was coming but not the amount of blood so the look on their faces is actually genuine shock !

I'm remaining hopefull...the alien franchise is one of my favourite...(getting an alien and a predator tattoo at some point!)

There's so much potential to make something amazing here....I hope it doesn't get fumbled.....

Alien is amazing. Aliens is incredible. Alien 3 can have its moments (even more so with the directors cut) but after that... Hell no...

We recently played through Alien Isolation and my god it was damn good! We are determined to buy an occulus rift now for games like that!

I hear they want to ret-con alien 3 onward with this which sounds good to me. Killing off hicks and newt was a stupid move... C x

Sounds like they're pretending that alien 3 didn't happen according to the latest Internet rumours (not that that proves anything), but if the leaked artwork and blomkamp's previous pedigree are anything to go by then i'm pretty excited to see this if it happens. That said I was really excited about prometheus and that was one of the most disappointing films I have EVER seen

I just wonder how they're going to do it, will it take place decades later so that Ripley has aged in line with Sigourney Weaver? Coming out of hyper sleep with Hicks (also aged), and Newt (as a grown woman)?

Could be an interesting approach.

Aliens was probably the last truly original horror movie, in one way or another every horror movie since has been influenced by or taken scenes/ideas from Aliens.

I'm looking forward to it, obviously there will be no pleasing the super fans but hopefully they'll make it well.

I love the fact they are ignoring alien 3 and resurrection.

Hicks will be back which is awesome and hopefully they will have been out in space for so long that they wake up much older and in bodies they aren't used to because they've changed that much.

start of alien 3 started where aliens left the ship carrying her Michael bein character and the girl crash landed on the prison colony killing them all except ripley ....it aint Disney that have bought the alien brand ffs hope not lol

Yes, I enjoyed the first two. Alien 3 was a bit of a dissapointment and 4 wasn't a whole lot better.

Sometimes it's best to quit while you're ahead and leave the audience wanting more than to wring the life out of it.

Just read an interview with blomkamp and he's saying that he has no intention of writing of off alien 3 or resurrection, he just wants to slot a film after aliens because he feels more 'connected' to the first two. Sigourney weaver is also very happy with the direction he wants to take things which sounds promising

the thing Is ...isn't Sigourney a bit to old to now reprise the role of ripley set in the same time frame of aliens I mean how old is the film.

ive seen a trailer for the new upcoming terminator film in which arnies in and he looks old to the point of so skynet are now churning out pensioner terminators which in turn kinda devalues the terminator and gives me 2nd thoughts about whether or not I want to see it ?

To be fair though they have created a legitimate reason for arnies age and it will play a part in the story.

The whole idea is th t even though the machine never ages, the organic skin around it used to ensure they can time travel does get old.

I think it's a fun work around.

Pity the film looks awful.

My hearts interested my mind says flogging a dead horse to squeeze as much cash.

The terminator started with arnie going to kill sarah connor so she couldn't give birth to mankinds saviour ..the last film salvation with chris bale took the story full circle back to the beginning of the first film ...don't see where the new terminator film could fit into the saga,

I feel the same with this new alien film from what ime hearing it simply seems a rehash of aliens ...nothinngs ever as good as the original. ime a fan of both franchises ...but I do remain a touch sceptical

I bought and watched district 9 having heard nothing about it and was blown away by it. The way it changes from documentary to full on Hollywood blockbuster was sublime, so much so I didn't realise till the end of the film! Clever story line with political undertones, recommend it to anyone!

Just sat and watched Aliens again ( special edition ) and for a film that is nearly 30 yrs old it still packs a massive punch !!

As for District 9 its a bloody brilliant film ! Hence my enthusiasm for the new alien sequel, Elysium is also good and looking forward to seeing Chappie.

Will be a long wait the new Alien film but have to say im seriously excited about it

I wasn't that impressed with Elysium, it had nice visuals but not a very impressive story, and a rather predictable one.

District 9 was really good!

Aliens is superb, the only thing I didn't like so much was the almost robotic way the aliens move but that was rectified in later sequels which gave them a fluid almost snake like movement (especially the bit where they were swimming in Alien Resurrection). Still though, quite a minor thing for an amazing film.

Regarding the new Terminator film.

I think it's meant to be a total reboot, so no other Terminator films exits in it.

In the new one Sarah Connor was younger when Arnie came back to kill her but something happened (I guess we'll find out when it's released) where he protects and teaches her and she becomes a badass survivalist.

A new terminator comes back to kill Sarah (who looks like a type of terminator from T2) and Arnie and Sarah have to kill the new terminator.

And Arnie the terminator ageing? Maybe he was Skynets new model?

Just my thoughts. Will be interesting to see how it goes.

Watched Jonathan Ross last night and Sigourney Weaver was on. Still a sexy classy lady dont get me wrong. But will she be a bit old to slot into this role again. Would still like to see her in that white vest and knickers though. I only say this as watched taken 3 the other night and couldn't help shake the feelin that Liam Neeson seems to be a bit on the slow side now. Hope i dont feel the same way way Sigourney revives her role.
