Just when u think you are feeling almost back to normal. I get a coughing fit that requires a doctor called in.

How can a viral/chest infection last 4 fooking weeks. I know ive got health issues but jeeez I want to get better

Yeah. After a bad case of pneumonia I got stuck with a lung infection which, so far, resists steroids and hydrocortisone. It's ruining my chances of getting the heart surgery I could do with.

Its horrible. I started mine dec 21st, saw the nurse as dumb receptionist didnt book me in with a dr, she said nothing wrong and we dont give antibiotics. my friend has same surgery as me and her dr gave her antibiotics. My cough went away quite a lot,thought I was getting better this week, back to work and started up again. two months now. I sympathise greatly with everyone who has this

I know how u feel got fly at new year got rid of it and not been able to shift the cough since dr said chest infection gave me antibiotics still hasn't shifted fully driving me insane grr

Just got rid of one myself had it for 7 weeks

Now on an inhaler

Unfortunately coughs can take up to 8 weeks to fully clear as even though the infection gone throat can still be irritated. Try a spoonful of honey 3-4 times a day. Preferably manuka.

Would love to come and spoon with you but you are a bit far away. I see you can't have alcohol as you're on anti biotics?

I do find a hot toddy with loads of honey generally helps but do wish you a speedy return to full health.

If it's viral then antibiotics won't do anything - they work on bacterial infection not viral.

And there's only one antibiotic you can't drink on.

Stay warm, keep your fluids up, try some steam and eat a healthy diet.

Oh and a bit of cosseting won't go amiss so get a bed buddy to bring you hot drinks and rub some vicks into your chest

your not on your own with this viral chest think half the country have it we both started before Christmas think it,s over then back to square one.It kills the fun halfway through a good session on the bed and one of you start,s a coughing fit
