The film is a true story starring Jeremy Renner who plays journalist Gary Webb.

Its set in the 80s and based on Reagans war on drugs (soundbite)

In short the cia wanted to invade Nicaragua cos they the current democratically elected nic government was American business friendly in order to stage a coup they set up the contra rebels but couldn't fund there arms as there own government (congress) refused to sanction a boots on the ground invasion ...soz meant liberation.

The Cia went against there own congress and in order to make money to fund the contra rebels they teamed up drug lords allowing them free air and shipping routes into there own country to flood it with billions of pounds of crack cocaine.

From the profits of turning there own citizens into crack heads the cia then used the money to fund arms to there contra rebels.

Gary webb printed the story as a result the cia used there friends in the major media outlets newchannels and main papers to discredit him.

He never worked in journalism again he eventually committed suicide by err shooting himself twice in the head ? seriously I aint making this up.

After Garys death and some years after the chief of the cia retired he came clean and admitted Gary webs story of the cia flooding its own country of crack cocaine to fund arms for a coup in Nicaragua was true.

If the cia pushed crack on there own citizens kinda makes the idea that they could have engineered the September twin towers to get the war they wanted ..yesterdays war on drugs ....todays war on terror !
