I'm not even sure if I hit 5ft. Been thinking about an op you can have to make you taller. Other fellow short people would you do it if you had the chance? Involves a hell of lot of pain though, that's what putting me off slightly. But I like the sound of being taller and feeling more like other people. My friends are all like amazon women who tower over me. lol

Heels are a lot cheaper and hurt less than the surgery

How would being taller truly change your life? That's what you have to consider.

I am now five feet half an inch, four years ago I had a titanium implant put in my spine to alleviate chronic pain from spinal stenosis and arthritis prior to that I was five feet exactly the added height was a side effect. Would i go through that just to be taller? No way, ever.

A friend of mine got an illness when he was younger that did something to his bones and one of his legs stopped growing. The surgery they did on him to lengthen his leg was agonising apparently. Not something I would want to put myself through.

Mrs N is 4ft11 and amazing. The pain just isn't worth it for what is potentially only a couple of inches increase.

She was offered it as a kid and the pain side of the op was a huge downside

From a male perspective, plenty more shags.

I love being short. I think it is an integral part of my personality. One of the reasons i love really tall guys is they make me feel even smaller. Do love my heels too tho

i was in a RTA and lost an inch in height due to spinal conpression ...at 5'2" im never going to make a storm on entering a room and sometimes in the company of very tall men i feel dwarfed but surgery ...never !!

how much height could you gain from surgery ??

the irony is my sister was up for surgery to stop her growing at 14 as she was touching 6 ft and couldnt put weight on due to growing so fast ...arrrghhh !!

should have put us in a blender and mixed us both up and we both might have been ok

I get two inches from surgery. I just get really embarrassed because I'm a trainee teacher and my students are all bigger than me too! They are only 10! lol.

They'll all be bigger than you if you're 5ft 2. Do it if you want to but only if you really want to.

Too many women who tickle my fancy and tick my boxes want 5'8 plus.

Getting frustrating now as you can most probably tell.

At 6ft plus i still feel short, that's just one of the reasons why everyone claims to be of average height lol

I was four years younger than you before I thought "Fuck it, I am what I am." accepted I wasn't going to get any taller and just worked with what I had.

I've felt the same. I'm the same height as you OP and never liked being a short arse, but my sons are tall so they can reach stuff for me (and i have some ladders at home). I'd love to be amazonian (got the muscle but not the height). The midget gene is in my family as well so one of my sons is still tiny, i feel bad about that (even though i didn't know it was genetic until recently), not like i did it on purpose either.

I'd rather accept that i'm not tall than go through operations and pain to gain the height, although if there was another, safe and pain free, way to gain height i would 100% go for it.

Im 5'7 and sometimes wish I was small and tiny in body size too. The weight problem I can sort out, my height sadly not.

Petite girls seem to be very popular here, so embrace it and dont have surgery.

If I could find a safe and pain free way to reduce my height, I would 100% go for it as well. I'm getting on for 5'10 and I hate it. I've got the big hands and big feet to go with it, and when I was younger would had given anything to be small and petite. You stand out when you don't want to stand out, look ridiculous in heels and intimidate men.

Embrace being small, there are others who are envious!

I'm 5' 6" which is still above average. I'm ok with that height but if I had the chance to be 5' 8" or 5' 10" with the wave of a magic wand, I'd definitely consider it.

5' 6" is ok though and I have lots of high-heeled shoes.

Work out what feelings/state of mind you'll attain from being taller and decide to jump the gun and feel that good anyway - you deserve it.

Surgery would carry so much risk that it cannot be worth it, when it's only you that's stopping you right now.

Accept and treat yourself compassionately. Find partners who want you as you are.

Just where I need to be.

I am small in height. In my head I actually think I am a lot taller. I have never been embarrassed about it, even when my children made me walk in the middle, towering over me. I have met some very tall guys and it's only when I stand next to them with no heels do I suddenly get the realisation Yes I'm short.

In olden days you could be made taller for free just upset the king and you was put on the rack lol

Neither of us is tall but you are what you are so answer is guess we would have liked to have been taller but hey wish we had won the lottery as well

Another point is when you laying down does not seem to notice
