misplaced priorities in single men

Jump to newest

Southend, Essex

Had a conversation with another single male who was complaining about timewaisters after his meet got cancelled . On asking why his meet failed his crux was that the women he was meeting had to look after her kids.

I was dumbfounded at that moment. Is this man in the minority of people who's priorities are misplaced and perceptions of priorities is misplaced or are there more like him?

Selfish twunt!

Family ALWAYS comes first regardless of if its friends, work, dating or here.

I think it's ok to be disappointed if a meet falls through for whatever reason. You can be understanding and disappointed at the same time without having mixed up priorities.

Although calling them time wasters for looking after their children is not on.

A cancelled meet can be annoying, maybe he was just letting off steam about it like lots of people do on here and feels better about it now

I'm ok saying that someone has wasted my time if they decide to do something with their kids at short notice instead of doing something with me.

Because they have wasted my time, it's a fact.

But that's one of the reasons I'm not really interested in meeting people who have kids - you always seem to get let down at the last minute.

I'm afraid to say our kids would always come first and if a meet had to be cancelled for some reason regardless of how late it was and the fella got the hump I'd call it a lucky escape.

Misguided and selfish are two words that relate to your friend.

Family always comes first, no matter what the plans are in any walk of life.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Upset and letting off steam but real life sometimes gets in the way.

If a meet is cancelled before I have left home then I don't see that as a timewaster: they have contacted and told me why they can't meet.

If I turn up to a meet and they are a no-show and no contact after then either they have been run-over or they intended to waste my time. I usually arrange to meet where I can find something else to do so it's not a complete waste of time. It's then just annoying and a small diversion of time.

There are lots of ways you can take this story.

She obviously arranged a sitter beforehand.

How much notice did she give him?

It COULD have been the perfect excuse to cancel all because she couldn't be asked.

We don't know the full story.

Depends on the circumstances though doesn't it. If the children are ill, or childcare arrangements have fallen through at the last minute or something then obviously any sane person should prioritise their children and everyone would understand that.

But if someone has arranged a meet without actually having sorted their childcare arrangements out and then just cancelled on the other person, I can see how that would be annoying.

Did you express your dumbfounded feelings to the guy online?

My daughter always comes first and I would expect no less of anybody else. If that puts people off meeting me then their loss as far as I'm concerned, I'd rather meet people with a little more patience.

Childminders and babysitters can let you down at the last minute too. You can't very well leave your children alone can you

Nope let him talk to be honest. The only thing i did ask him though was don't you think her kids come first. To which he replied she never said she had kids. That was the end of the conversation to be honest.

To be honest there are that many people on here who cancel at the drop of a hat that its hard to know who's genuine and who's not, if I believed everyone who cancelled on me because a family member had suddenly been rushed into hospital or died I'd stop meeting for the good of everyones health because I'd be convinced I was jinxed

Maybe she was a time waster and dont even have kids or maybe her sitter let her down, who knows and that's the problem we don't so we trust our instincts and if it happens a lot we do tend to think....another time waster

I've routinely been blown out because the grandkids are unwell

Another reason to prefer younger men quite frankly

Sounds harsh but I'm in those game for me and my satisfaction only
