"On the neck may suggest that it is some clothing rubbing on you and causing the reaction. Have you changed washing powder recently? Using a new scent? Quite often as someone else said, it can be due to chemicals in something you are washing with. Additives in food can cause allergic reactions also. My advice would be to pare down to basic diet, cook things from scratch without using processed food. Gradually bring in further foods to see if the reaction comes again. If you have changed shower gel etc, change back to what you were using before. A gradual process of deduction may help you identify the culprit. Anti histamines are great but long term use of some of them has been associated with a greater risk of Alzheimers, so try to find the cause before too long. Good luck." thank you , i have been wearing a lot off pollo necks because off the cold weather x

"I suppose the only way out of this is an allergy test which I hope your GP is arranging soon! And hopefully I`m not teaching you to suck eggs when I say to keep a note of what you do and when the hives flare up/worsen so you can help to eliminate whatever is causing your problem. You could also try changing some of the products you use for known non-allergenic ones. Don`t forget condoms - a friend of mine can have fatal reactions to latex including in some of it`s foodstuff items - bananas, advocados etc. " doc is makeing me an appointment for tests , thank you for the good advice x

"St johns wort liquid may help relieve the itching" Don't bother with that. If you're going to recommend something please don't recommend herbal/plant/alternative remedies. If you knew the cost implications these remedies have on the nhs you'd wonder why they're not banned. They are so unregulated in their manufacture you don't know the exact composition, because of this they can interact with lots of other regular medication, sometimes being fatal.

"It may well be something that previously you were never allergic to as this is what happened to me. I used to be fine taking iburofen but then started getting an allergic reaction to it with hives and even 1 day difficultly swallowing and breathing before realised what was wrong. Now I stay away from it and any related drugs as had the same reaction to aspirin as well." thank you i will get my doc to check my meds out x
