"See a physio, not a doctor. " I would have to be referred by my GP.

"If your shoulder(s) are hurting when doing chest work, especially on chest/bench press then It means you're elbows flare out to much. Your elbows should tuck and come close to your sides so you get full range of motion. If you flare your elbows out, the tension is taking away from your chest towards your shoulders. Which is were you can start doing damage to your rotator cuffs and other delicate muscles. Also don't fall in love with machines. Your better off with free weights and barbells. It isolates the muscles more and it's better for ROM. " Exactly this

"Whenever I'm at the gym and I chest press or shoulder press my left shoulder clicks and I'm only managing stupid weights ie 14-18kg on the machines (not free weights) at first I thought I was rusty because of not doing gym work for a number of years. But it's been nearly 8 weeks now and no improvement, anybody experienced the same? Any ideas? Just after general advice I know I'll have to bite the bullet and see the doc." If it's just clicking, can't see an issue, most people's joints click at some time, just build up the weight gradually. if it's hurting, that's a whole different ball game, stop doing what hurts, and get professional advice, a physio is a good idea.
