Tenbury Wells

I actually visited Bletchley Park last Friday

And we saw literature on homing pidgeons

I'm unsure how they do it

It must be something to do with food or the females scent maybe

But I'm guessing

Magnetic fields undetectable by humans. To them like using a road map.

In your GoT example the ravens would be kept at say Winterfell, then when it's keeper deemed it recognised Winterfell as it's home it would be transported to King's Landing and kept there and released from King's Landing when they have a message for Winterfell.

Despite what they lead you to believe on TV and in the films the bird only goes one-way so a different one that sees King's Landing as it's home would take the return message from Winterfell.

The birds are then taken back to where their 'home' wants a quick message from.

It quite amazing how they do it really

My Dad told me that when he was a child he took a homeing pigeon on a school trip to Dover and let it fly home from there

Most people would send a text to say they were stuck in traffic

I've never heard of pigeon street. I read a lot and on the odd occasion retain information.

Believe it or not, if they fly the same way a few times they start to follow the roads. Saw it on QED

They do seek landmarks...

I do a bit of shooting and you've only got to watch them...they'll follow certain treelines say, then turn at the farm buildings and follow a road then turn off at another landmark say...

Couple mins later, more come along and take the same route...helps with the shooting if you can predict the flightpaths and figure out what good food sources lie under the flightpaths...all ya gotta do then is set your hide, set your decoys well and wait.....hopefully pidgeon for dinner that night
