Forgotten Film Recommendations

Help please, with some suggestions for decent films.

I'm sure we've all seen a film years after it was in the cinema that was initially completely off our radar, but blew us away when we did see it.

My recommendation is 'little miss sunshine'. if you missed it, it's a dysfunctional family on a road trip in the USA.

quality intelligent humour from the start, and one of the best endings to a film ever. no spoilers, but if you can watch the beauty show without laughing you are not normal.

any suggestions for my next dvd & pizza night?

Ken Russell's 'Salomes Last Dance'

Fantastically good, erotic, thought provoking, beautifully filmed.

Getting hard to find copies of it now.. Will probably never be shown on TV again...

any genre really, just looking for those great films that never really made it huge at the flicks,, but are actually great.

and you have shamed me into admitting I e never seen Citizen Kane in full. good call. I need to see that film.

A nice indie film that I watched recently 'safety not guaranteed', blade runner, big trouble in little China, Brazil, Joe vs the volcano, they all tanked at the cinema but are either very watchable or stone cold classics

did you know it's a remake? the Hong Kong-made original, Infernal Affairs, is really good.

But then I love far-eastern films: Hero, Crouching Tiger, Red Cliff, The Assembly, Kagemusha, Ran, Yojimbo, Hana-Bi, Old Boy, Lady Vengeance, Battle Royale....
