Way past his best and they look a much better side when he isn't in it at the moment. Sad to see as he has been brilliant for years, but he is doing the right thing by heading over to LA.

Ignore the past and look at the present. He cost LFC the league last year, harsh but true. And he hasn't been the same since. He gives the ball away, a lot. Can't make the same box to box runs he did and opponents can run past him too easily. He can still deliver great set pieces and takes a mean penalty. But his all round game is nowhere near the level it was.

Maybe, but I've heard nothing to suggest the team is better with him in it this season, results would support that, as does the fact LFC didn't offer a new contract. He has been a brilliant player, an LFC legend, but time to move on.

Come back when you have something constructive to say rather than the tabloid rubbish you spout. Everyone knows he's been a better player in the past, talk about stating the obvious. Calling him a liability is just ridiculous and you certainly aren't qualified to make that statement!!!

Will you two pack it in!, nevermind Gerard when there's news of a true club legend...

"Altrincham’s visit to Welling United, originally scheduled for Saturday March 7th, has been moved to Sunday March 8th, kick off at 1.00pm to be broadcast live on BT Sport.

The game could be hugely significant for Stuart Coburn, as it is possible that he will break the record for the most number of games played for Altrincham Football Club".

Besiktas are a verygood side, I've been impressed with them. But they are working incredibly hard to contain Liverpool so I expect chances for the reds but also Besiktas on the break as they push forward.

"They're gonna miss Gerard in the middle of the pitch, Clive.

No they're not, he is a bloody liability this season.

No he's not. A few bad games maybe!!! Pffft

Way past his best and they look a much better side when he isn't in it at the moment. Sad to see as he has been brilliant for years, but he is doing the right thing by heading over to LA.

He isn't and never will be a liability!!!

Who are you???? You have your opinion I have mine. He is not a liability end of. No need to reply.

He is, which is why the club has let him go No need to reply.

Hahaha you know f all!!!!

I certainly am, as much as the next fan. Football is all about opinions. I've given you plenty of reasons to back mine up.

Your just an opinionated tabloid paper regurgitator!!!

Or maybe a UEFA qualified coach able to look objectively at things rather than living in the sentimental past??

You're not qualified and I'm not sentimental. Rather be positive about a still current player than spout utter rubbish and negativity. Most true fans do.

Because I disagree with you and challenge you, I'm not a true fan. Got it. "

Not when you call one of our loyalist and most talented CURRENT players a liability no!! Glad you've finally got it. Pleb

You calling me names isn't going to change the fact that the team has been better without him this season, especially since the change in formation. Happened to Gary Neville a couple of years back and he held up his hands and retired mid season. As I've said all along, Gerrard has been a legend, brilliant, first name on the team sheet for years and how I wish the 2005 Gerrard was on the pitch tonight. But doesn't change my opinion of the here and now, an opinion I've managed to articulate without being rude to anyone.

Definition of liability:

a person or thing whose presence or behaviour is likely to put one at a disadvantage.

I believe that Gerrards presence in the team puts LFC currently at a disadvantage for the many reasons outlined.

You disagree. That is fine.

Despite Gerrard having the current midfield mobility of a one legged donkey stuck in quicksand, he can still bring a lot to team in a more forward 'number 10' position. Also, I'm sure he still contributes a lot around the club. Fingers crossed we're cheering a last Stevie G special in FA Cup final as a send off for second best player ever. Kenny still no1

Interesting dilemma, assuming the team reach the final with the lineup which is currently winning (and which given recent decisions and results Rodgers views as his strongest), do you change it to give Gerrard his send off, walking out at Wembley leading the team as captain, or do you put out what you believe to be your strongest team? I personally believe that Rodgers would play him. Either way, if Liverpool win it will be fine, but equally of they lose in either scenario it could well be his defining moment as manager of the club.

The game could be hugely significant for Stuart Coburn, as it is possible that he will break the record for the most number of games played for Altrincham Football Club"."

Horrible position for Rodgers, he plays Gerrard and he hits a 30 yard winner it will forever be known as Gerrards final (and a fitting legacy). If he plays, has a shocker (there have been a few recently) and Liverpool lose, Rodgers will forever be accused of bottling a big decision. Rodgers doesn't pick him and Liverpool win, he is viewed as tough and capable of making all the right calls. Or he doesn't pick him, Liverpool lose and Rodgers is shown to be a fool for leaving out a legend and loses the support of players and pundits and likely loses his job. Oh to be a manager!!
