Stumbled on this in a medical journal

"Male circumcision reduces HIV transmission. The risk of transmission from woman to man is halved".

Thorson, A.; Ragnarsson, A.; Rosling, H.; Ekström, A. (2010).

Even less risk if you stick a condom on it!

I'd be very interested in the reasoning behind this.

PS The only proven way to reduce STI transmission is to wear a condom.

.

It's not new, they've known about it for years.

Came from a superstition in Africa where tribes chop them off after noticing guys without tend to catch it less.

The foreskin is very susceptible to the virus, or indeed all virus.

It's not really much good cutting risks in half mind, it's like saying smoke 3 cigarettes a day, it cuts your risks but not really by a decent level.

Sounds a load of utter nonsense to me, as I understood that HIV was transferred through bodily fluids.

I'll carry on with the condoms thanks all the same

I'm assuming this is instead of condom usage, in countries where condom usage is rare or discouraged.

I prefer uncut cocks to play with, with a condom on for sex. No need to mutilate your pride n joy for me, boys.

Where Ive seen it its more 'belts and braces', using a number of approaches to try and reduce transmission

Apparently the foreskin is a breeding ground for the virus. Removal of the foreskin reduces that. Condoms are even better tho.
