A Fishery or a Fish Farm would be you best actual chance of catching a Real Live Fish..

Or go Crabbing at the Seaside..

I got one on my first chuck, an 8 and half pound carp...much to the disgust of Mr ruggers who thought I wouldn't catch a cold.

I have to admit it had to be a fluke, but his face was a picture

Other than that, they sell lovely lemon sole in M&S

if you're seriously in need of help with this, pm me, and I can point you towards places that will do you a starter session. if you want something to eat, that probably means a small lake stocked with trout, and you're probably looking at about £50 upwards.

Most commercial lakes wont let you keep your fish, you have to throw them back in, but if you are serious and need to catch a fish but not to eat it, you could have stopped this way when you were in Derbyshire and you could have come with us for your challenge

North of The Wall - youll need your vest

"I can offer you brown trout from the river at the bottom of my garden.

Just dangle your rod over the rail whilst reclining on the sofas sipping a glass of wine...

That's the best offer so far. Let me know when and I'll be there.

It's a little scary having you and Ruggers post after each other."

Yeah but she's sat on my knee and it was her turn to have custody of the keyboard

"Most commercial lakes wont let you keep your fish, you have to throw them back in, but if you are serious and need to catch a fish but not to eat it, you could have stopped this way when you were in Derbyshire and you could have come with us for your challenge "

depends on the species, if its a trout lake you are generally told to keep your 1st 3 fish, however on other lakes, carp, tench, rudd etc they are very rarely eaten so are more a game fish, catch and release,

Op, I would suggest heading to the mouth of your nearest river, nipping in to a tackle shop on the way and asking for a bit advice on baits for that river, they will happily advise you, then going to the rivermouth/estuary, its free of charge, no licence required, comfortable, and you will more than likely have a chance at a number of species, including flounders, plaice, dabs, sole, cod, whiting, coalfish, pollack, bass, or if you wait til the summer you can always go on a pier and catch mackerel by the dozen, which are lovely on a bbq.

In the right spot you can catch mackerel off the beach so no need to go in a boat. And then just set up a barbie or beach fire to cook it right there.

Depending when you're thinking of going On certain waters there's a close season as well, normally 3 months from March to June allows the fish to breed.

"I need to catch a fish.

Just ask the fishmonger to throw it underarm.

I have a little rod, but I normally get the boot...

Thou not the time I have been on trips but only in mid summer, try mackeral fishing on a boat off the cornish coast Perhaps devon in some parts you,ll have Someone manning the boat but I,m sure its not the season for that if yer not Used to a rod and line before it would Be better going to asda or sainsburys you need a rod licence for course and that ends in march the season and starts again in June.

Some legit advice here, if you're carp fishing, go old school and use some floating bread. Works everytime in my local ponds

Did you use weighted line to get it out onto the Water with some crust in the bread either way well done I admire most fish They all have their own character as being a fisherman I,m sure you,ll Know that anyway, I went over to bird watching nearly 30 years ago now but I,ve always admired nature and like it better than anything really thou I have caught sea fish to eat 95% per cent of my fish went back alive, thou I watched robson green on here last week he tours around the world sea fishing and he went blue marlin fishing but he hooked into a big eyed tunie.. spelling oops what a fish and the tackle he used as well strapped into a chair,a beautiful streamlined fish made for speed nature,s engineering at its best 3klg,s thou the fish was common in those waters but lost or not so common in others I always feel sad to see a beautiful creature perish from robson greens battle the the tunie was exausted so may not have made full recovery again in The water anyway one of the reason,s why I would not go on such a trip the fish was to be shared around The village when back on sure I think it was in costa rica can,t be sure now.
