go soft & soggy in the microwave???

fancied a Cornish pasty and couldn't wait for the (electric) oven to warm up so thought I'd just nuke it.... big mistake

It's the amount of fat in the pastry. Microwaves make all the liquids jiggle around.

You can just about get away with shortcrust on a short blast.

Now I want pastry and not the fish and veg we are having for dinner.

Fat content is high so that's my guess why soggy in a microwave

Microwave activates the water molecules, so.fat splits and softens the pastry.

You can but only to warm up if things have been cooked in oven before for 1 to 3 mins after that the Microwave activates the water so makes it soft .
