whats not to understand? Phone scam doing the rounds, be careful, dont give your details out.

Just because its not written in perfect English doesnt mean it wasnt understandable.

always hang up on these calls and then leave it a good 10/15 minutes

if they put you on hold or keep their end of the call up it will eventually clear down if you have hung up but depending on the network you are on this might take a few minutes

if they say ring them back always leave it half an hour some scammers play dial tone so you think you are ringing the bank but you are not

They phone you on your landline? Simple. Use your mobile to phone your service provider.

Titz Towers, North Notts

There's been a lot on this on Radio4 recently. It seems the best thing to do, short of just hanging up and ignoring the phone, is to phone the rozzers on a different phone.

Central

Take your time answering and don't speak immediately once you pick up - you'll often tell if its a call centre calling, and they disconnect if you don't speak.

Otherwise keep the geographical number for your local police by the phone.

I usually deny being the person asked for or refer them to call the police phone number, if I even speak at all.

Mostly these intrusive and scam calls go unanswered or hung up on immediately here.

Ask for anything in writing and refuse to give any information out. Any genuine organisations have your address and details and are happy to write to you.
