so i have been invited to 3 weddings so far this year but really dont think i should be invited to any others!!!

first one (my sisters, so invite was kind of expected ) she has a car crash 3 weeks before and ends up going down the isle in a moon boot and now the photographer has lost all her pics cos he didnt back up his hard drive

second one went ok (as far as i know lol)

Third one is today and i had a message from my friend last night to say that her mother died on Wednsda but they are still going ahead with the wedding. i have decided not to go to this one as i have not seen her in a while and feel that now it should just be cose friends and family due to the mix of emotions etc

It sounds as though she was telling you to still attend, because if it was now for just close family she would have said so. She may feel that a scaled down wedding will remind her of the one person she really wished was there more than if she had a lot of people there as planned. I'd go if I were you.

I agree. I'd go - she'll need people around her more than ever.

I agree with soapy who agrees with Wishy ....

The message says all is still going on..... to do that when her mum has passed on is a huge desire for her to have things go on as they would have...

i think i will just feel like an imposter. i havent seen her since we left school (11 years ago) and wont know anyone else there as all of our other friends from school arent going.

i dont want to intrude on peoples grief essentially

oh i dont know, i will have a think on it as you guys are right, if she is going ahead with it she obviously wants people there to celebrate with her and my reasons above do seem rather selfish now i have written them down.

i may just go and show my support etc but not stop too long

well as always you lot speak alot of sense.

i did go in the end and had a great time catching up with my fried (and there were a couple of other people i knew there to)

there were no sad faces in respect of her mum not being there, just a simple photo of her by the wedding cake. Apparently they had set a place for her at the top table and put her picture there while they had the wedding breakfast.

So glad i went now. That will teach me for projecting my feelings onto an event

Don't beat yourself up. Sometimes it is good to air your concerns than not!

Glad you enjoyed yourself and the others enjoyed theirs.

little house on the praire

Glad everything went well. Sounds as though they made a very simple poignant mark of respect to her mother
