What do you have if you put a sausage in one of your rolls, there's definitely no pastry involved

The Aberdeen roll is actually quite savoury but is equally good with either butter and cheese or butter and syrup, would love to know what goggle brings up

Lol they look nothing like scones! A softie is just a softie, a roll you cut in half and fill with ham and cheese etc a butterie is like half a softie but firmer and made predominantly with suet (I think) quite high in fat but can be made either sweet or savoury, very versatile

So let me get this straight, Sass...

You like crusty baps?

You make me SICK.

Reply privatelyReply in forumReply +quote

Oven bottom barmcakes. Cobs are rock hard and crusty (good with soup).

Baps are smaller than barns.

Teacakes have got currants in (no arguing yorkies!).

Rolls are southern baps.

Stotties are barns, but a perfectly acceptable substitute.

I might even accept muffin, but it has to have chips and gravy in it.

To make them look 'homemade' but i agree it spoils them. I hate getting a mouthful of flour...which happens sometimes when too much flour's been put on.
