I would never have a Road Bike.

I've never ridden a road bike in my life..

Too risky ..even for me.

Good bike however only produces about 53 bhp easily customised though and pretty good on the eye, Ive got a customised m1800r pretty good round town for a big bike and with a bit of tinkering it's running 165 bhp and 207 nm of torque at back wheel.

It's my first road bike so not looking for anything too gutsy.

Just something to start out on, end goal is xl1200n.

I got a Dragstar Classic as my first 'proper' bike. Not a million miles away from a VN. Changed exhausts and bars and it's cool beans. Easy to service/ maintain and no chain to bother about. Comfy on long rides too.

Plenty torque. Top speed pretty gash (85-90 and struggling to hold on at that with apehangers) but they're not really built for that and in not a speed head so doesn't bother me.

Cheap too for low mileage ones.

I (Mr) used to have a VN900. It is an excellent bike. Very good to look at, fuss free belt drive, economical (about 60mpg)' very easy to service, and ran like a dream. The fuelling is spot on in standard form and there are loads of Kawasaki and after market accessories available if you want to bling it, specially from the States.

I kept mine in standard form except for luggage and did 50,000 trouble free miles on it.

I had a VN750 years ago - first bike after I passed my test. Bloody loved it but found it just a bit heavy to shove around being a small short-arse. Comfy position, reasonable mpg, respectable speed but nothing super which suited me perfectly.

It is a good bike to start with, not a big fan of that style of bike.

If you want a scare get a CR500 supermotard bike, 94bhp with no weight at all. Heard it is an interesting ride.
