Hey all,

Wondering if we have any joggers/runners in the group? Recently started going out again as I simply put, need to. Must say I've always hated going for runs, even when I was at the height of my fitness. Anyone else enjoy running, or any tips? Or even naughty stories?

Well I have lost a lot of weight, I am quite active, I cycle around 30 mile a work day, use the tread mill for an hour a day and have to big dogs that I walk 2 to 3 times a day and when I say walk I don't mean round the block so I am loosing it slowly but I'm still a size 14 which is way to fat to be jogging in Lycra in public

I cant believe that people laugh at anyone making a concious effort to get fit or healthier.

I went for one yesterday. Was a mix of jogging and running, on off. Felt good after id done it though.

I'm on 43 parkruns so far, looking forward to my 50th. Did 2 10k runs last year, raising money for the Samaritans and so far this year have signed up for 2 more 10k's and an 8.5 mile run. I also run with a local running club and have been blown away by the support and encouragement I've had from everyone in the running community!

I love it. Just need to sort my eating out and I'll be a size 10 in no time lol

Honestly NN, I worried people would laugh at me and that people would hate waiting for me at parkrun etc but I couldn't be further from the mark. People actually wait for me to finish to cheer me home. Each week, people I have never spoken to tell me what an inspiration I am and how well I'm doing. Get out there!!

Are the park runs, you just attempt a lap of the park as quick as you can?

No, its 5k. You get a barcode when you register. Take that with you then at the end you get a finish yojrn (which you must return!!) And they scan both then later in the day you bvet your results online and by text if you choose that option.

All free, all awesome.

Lol no. I'm not good at geography but there is one at Walsall arboretum. When I've define my 50th at Worcester I'd happily come with you to one there or any other that's closer to you.

I'f your just starting to run run for time not distance.

For example run for 30 mins not 4 miles because as you get fitter you will cover the same distance quicker so if you run for distance you will be using less training time.

"yea I jog bout 3 times a week with my dog"

Thats what I'm aiming for, when I walk them I do run with them if noome is about but as soon as I see someone I stop and walk, I'd like to get to a size where I feel confident to carry on running even if I pass someone, I just feel embarrassed at the moment

Mind you I do have a greyhound and a greyhound cross whippet so me running with the dogs is a sight to behold lmao the greyhound cross whippet only has three legs and he still leaves me standing

I don't think theres any shame in being left behind by those two! One of my dogs would leave me for dead while the other is slow, so that suits me.

Been going jogging for a few years now. My weight had got far too high. I did think I'd get comments, piss taking but never had any. If anything I've had nothing but encouragement off other runners. Living near the chase its ideal. 2 stone off so far but still need to lose more.

I only jog in the dark because some cunt in a shitty car will always shout something out of their window at me, and it's just not what you need when youre just starting out and trying to lose weight.

I like my tread mill to be honest, when I first started using it I was a size 24 and very unfit, I only used to do a fastish walk for 15 mins a day, but as the weight came off and I got fitter I started doing longer, jogging and introducing the incline, I'm now upto jogging for an hour which I'm quite proud of and when I'm really going for it I will even jog on a low incline, that's really hard work, try jogging at 8kph on something even as low as 3% incline and you can really feel it, I've only managed 5 mins on that and I had to drop the incline I was fooked
