Went to see 50 Shaded tonight. It was just ok. Bits of storyline missing. Dont want to give too much away for those who haven't watched it. Now gonna have to wait on the 2nd movie being released. Anyone else watch it tonight? If so, what were your views?

Arse End of the Universe, Cumbria

I saw it last night, enjoyable escapism though some of the dialogue was cornier than Kellogg's. According to my mates who'd read the books, dialogue pretty much same as them. I did think both main characters were lovely eye candy, though I prefer bigger boobs on a woman.

When he opened the door to the play room, all 5 of my companions turned to look at me as they know I swing and am not averse to a bit of dungeon fun...I said I'd seen better dungeons

Oh God. I hoped they made all 3 books into one film. Now we are going to have to suffer 3 times?!???

The books weren't great so I'm not expecting the film to be either but will go and see it anyway just to see what all the fuss is about. The actor playing Christian grey is not right. He looks like a boy playing a man.

I really enjoyed the film. Jamie was a bit fluffy to start with, but certainly grew into the role of Mr Grey.

Lots of background was missing. But all in all a good film, great soundtrack.

Want to see it again and can't wait for the next one sometime next year

I haven't read the books but the actors seem wrong to me. They seem too innocent. The tales of him visiting a dungeon for research... and him being shocked.. put me off.

I'm going to see it anyway. I'm a nosey cow.

There are a lot of people getting their knickers in a twist over it and how it promotes abuse of women. I read the books and will see the film. It's only a book and only a film. Do films and books about murders, rapes and horror films get so much press and criticism?? No, they are seen as a work of fiction and from someone's imagination. This is no different to other films, this is just tackling a different subject than what people are used to. There are a lot of books that depict a whole lot worse. I don't like horror films of people being murdered and chopped up so I don't watch them. If you don't like the subject of this film don't watch!! Simple

I liked it, but then I enjoyed the books... I agree they're not literary gold, but as a 'take your brain out' love story, I think they're fine.

Wasn't really a fan of Jamie Dornan or his casting as Grey, but I'm now converted!

I should have said, I don't think it promotes abuse of women!! I have been on the submissive side of a D/s relationship and whilst no expert, have a little understanding of the dynamic.

Films almost never live up to the books they're derived from, they'd have to be 10x longer and match every individual persons imagination.

Its a big ask for such a hyped up book and film combination.

The Harry Potter books weren't particularly well written, but they were fun to read, the films were a poor reflection of the books, with a wooden main character actor.

But theres nothing wrong with a bit of escapism for a few hours and a bit of popcorn (unless you have to sit through Birdman that is )

I'm hoping the film is better than the books I got bored half way through the 1st one and couldn't really see what the fuss was about but then I suppose most people aren't as broad minded as me I will probably leave early if the film is as bad as the books and go home for a good shag

The books were ok although badly written and th film the same really. I admit I went expecting it to be crap so it wasn't as bad as I expected. The sex is tedious and tame but the storyline was beginning to get into his psyche and then it suddenly ended. All in all it killed a couple of hours I needed to kill and it wasn't the worst way I could have done it.

It was interesting watching who else went to see it. It was mainly females, mostly of Indian decent, a few threesomes of mmf and an anorak wearing single guy, mid fiftys sat on his own at the back

I went on my own to the midnight showing only 3 other people in..

It was okay. There were better bits in the book that could have been adapted and as expected the sex incredibly tame. It was a bit repetitive in parts too. However hew nice to look at and I've seen worse films.

I find it all a bit laughabLe the way certain groups are branding it as domestic abuse etc. to me it was a bit of a cheesy love story. I also think it's been over hyped can't see many people getting ideas from it's content either.

However it made her a bucket load of money and most importantly it's got people talking about sex and bdsm relationships in a way they haven't before x

Just been to see it. I haven't read the books so went with an open mind.

Sex scenes were way too tame but then I'm a filthy bitch....

The dialogue was (in places) stinted and like a teenager wrote it- but I thought it worked well that way as it gave it a different edge and made it quite intense in an odd way. Too much chit chat would have spoiled it.

In my opinion, there was no abuse at all. Perhaps the books are different. I actually really enjoyed it! Good film and glad I saw it.

Going to read the books now. It has intrigued me.

Can't wait for the next movie.

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

The story does not 'lift the lid' on BDSM. In fact, it may make vanilla people see it as stalking and abusive which it clearly is not.

A dangerous book and film imo.

I'm going on Thursday night as part of a ladies charity event.

Not looking forward to the film - the books were trashy nonsense, but going with 2 friends. One who is very vanilla, and another who I have played with in the past... could be an interesting evening. The one I have played with knows about my submissive side, but doesn't get that side of things... but its very different from the book - I would never put up with that rubbish - its borderline abusive, very controlling and not dominant - just misogyny!

Precisely. The book is actuallyan exploration of an abusive relationship. It's not about BDSM. And therein lies the problem. People will read it or seeit and believe that that is what BDSM is.

There are no rules when it comes to bdsm besides the safe sane consensual. Everyone involved has their own interpretation and plays with the bits that do it for them.

This is not real! It's a book and a film. Not a scripture about how to do bdsm!! If you want to see it that way, it's a book about a twisted stalker who abuses a young innocent girl. But it's not the first book about "bad people" and it won't be the last!!

So for comparison, are all step mother's evil and mean?? No they're not. But if you watch Disney films you might just believe it. You might also believe that a handsome Prince is going to come whisk you away from every bad situation (and evil step mother) you could imagine. It's not real

We went to see it last night.

Jayne has read all the books and loved them, I've not read them.

Jayne thought the film was ok, but she would have liked to see more of the sex scenes, and I thought it was ok, there was just enough of a back story about how he became a "Dom" to keep me interested.

As for the BDSM element, I guess they couldn't go too wild, there's enough of the "he's abusive" brigade who have dusted off their moral outrage in preparation.

Go expecting a sex-fest.... fail.

Go expecting a "how to" guide on BDSM ... fail.

Go expecting it to be the same as the book... fail.

Go expecting a film about a guy wanting a girl... sorted.
