I wouldn't say a lump to my throat, when I see these ads I turn them over, as it feels as if there guilt tripping you.

I wonder at times if all the money goes to these charities, or does it go through a 3rd party/middle man.

This is why I rarely give any money to charity.

I would like most of these charities to show us where OUR money goes

The amount of money that goes to wages/tv ads/whatever else of big charities always gets my goat.

There is only 1 charity we support for 2 reasons - 1. Because they are raising money for research into treatments & a cure for the condition our daughter has and 2. Because 95% of all funds donated goes to those research projects and not to line the pockets of the staff.

I have to say, any charity appeal ads on tv have me turning over because of how little is actually used for the purpose they are advertising.

That said, any advert with ill/dying children in it does make me well up but then I can be like that when someone dies on Casualty

Hids

There's only really two charities I give money to or raise money for, they are Multiple Sclerosis Society which my grandfather had and Cancer Research UK following my dad death ten years ago.

The advert where the 3 old ladies with pink hair give a cheque to the Asian girl to go to school... that's a genuine charity
