"Glad to see people who think alike, I was getting worried I was crazy to think that trust is greater than fidelity " You take fidelity on trust. Fidelity isn't just actions but the thoughts too, in my view. If someone is wishing to be elsewhere, holding out from doing anything about it but hating being there are they faithful to me and what we have had? I believe it is entirely possible to be faithful and have sex with others but it is based on the trust that your head and heart remains faithful.

"But what happens when you trust someone to be faithful? Both would be interlinked so really the question is moot. and I believe most people enter a relationship on the basis of monogamy. " That's the point, when they cheat they also abuse your trust. But which is worse? I could easily get over someone cheating on me (and have done) it's the lack of trust afterwards that messes everything up.

"Fidelity/trust isn't it the same thing?Someone breaks your trust by being unfaithful? What's the difference? " You can break trust on other things not just faithfulness. In the broadest sense of the word it is synonymous but someone stealing your idea and pitching it to the boss may lose your trust but you had relationship of faith with each other.

"Loss of trust " Trust totally for me too. When you have a certainty that is locked to your core well being, then it hits you hard if it disappears.

" True, but the question is asking which is worse because you have been both cheated on and had your trust broken and they are separated in this topic, even though they are the same thing they are also separate. Hope that makes sense? Does to me anyway.

"Trust covers a whole range of things. From the most simplest of asking someone to do something, and putting your trust in them that they will do it. Ie, posting a letter/picking you up/helping you with something. If the person consistently forgets, or whatever, then the trust in the person is lost. This is a very basic example of course... I've recently been looking to broaden my sexual horizons into the control aspect, and again it's all down to trust. And I think that trust will be gained by all of those little things. Having confidence that the person is capable to do what they say they will do. Trust. "

The point i was making is that trust and fidelity are the same thing. it is only that one trust is broken by cheating and the other is broken by an unknown factor which could be much worse then cheating. So again the question is pointless unless you know what the unknown factor is.

"To me they both go hand-in-hand. Infidelity will lead to complete loss of trust... - Amy. x" This. In the context of a monogamous relationship they are usually one and the same.
