Bath Lorry Tragedy

Whilst driving home from work listening to the radio there was a report about the tragic event in Bath yesterday.

Upon listening they make a statement about Mitzi Rosanna Steady that she was loved and would be missed, they also go on to say that the three other victims were two business men and a chauffeur.

Now, I don't want to come across as harsh but why do we have to point out that a 4 year old is loved, isn't that just a given, they make it out as something extraordinary and that if it were not for these events one wouldn't have been so well loved.

As for the other poor victims being businessmen and their chauffeur I just don't understand the shallow reporting, perhaps it's just me that feels that I don't need to know what these people do but that they have been so tragically taken.

My heart goes out to all those affected and only hope time helps to heal their pain.

How do others feel about the press and the way details are given?

Press give details that sell stories. It's been this way for ages.

What hooks people into a story? Generic business men in suits or cute little chubby faced blonde haired child?

It is a tragedy for everyone involved. Personally I don't think we should be told half of the stuff we do about stories like this. The families should be allowed to grieve privately, not be worried about releasing statements to the press etc.

It could be that the families asked for information to be withheld. My family had an RTC and we were advised almost immediately to withhold information from the press and to request privacy to help with the criminal case. Plus it stops ambulance chasing lawyers reaching out.
