"Poorly advised to be turning down a long term contract at c.£75k a week, or right not to sign and better off moving elsewhere for more?" If he can get more money at a club where they can challenge for titles, its a no brainer surely?

"Has it being announced that he has refused the contrary or is this just media spec either way his still a lfc player till 2017 " Rodgers said in a press conference today that Sterling hadn't yet put pen to paper on what is a stunning deal. Connections to the player he has no intention of signing. Despite being contracted to 2017, if he doesn't want to stay, Liverpool will be forced to cash in. Short term he would be mad to move, he is in a good environment with a manager who wants to build a team around him. I hope he sees sense.

"Word Is he going to sign next week no worries " He should get on and do it before the fans get on at him. And before his agent sees the mega bucks opportunity to put him on the bench at Madrid!

"Word Is he going to sign next week no worries He should get on and do it before the fans get on at him. And before his agent sees the mega bucks opportunity to put him on the bench at Madrid!" Which is exactly why Rodgers spoke to the press about it putting pressure on the player from the fans. I have been less than impressed with his comments to the media about Balotelli either poor man management in my view.

"I think a lot of the major clubs might be put off by the 'I go on holiday somewhere hot whenever I want to or I'm feeling a little tired' clause he insists upon...." He is still work in progress, another couple of years putting in solid performances at Liverpool and he will be able to take his pick of where to go next. He should be very careful with his development, too many young players get carried away and end up never being as good as they could.

I don't think he would benefit from a move to Spain where potentially he might not make first team. I agree he should stay put. My concern is are Liverpool players treated too much with kid gloves. Why Sturridge was out so longer mains a mystery to me.

"I'm my opinion he is overrated and doesn't deserve such a contract at such a young age. He'll end up being another overpaid overrated English 'superstar' I think there should be a salary cap on young players earning to keep them grounded and want to improve as players " Statistically he is Liverpool's top attacking player this season but I agree with the need for him to remain grounded as he develops.

" He should take the money and run, dribble, shoot and score (preferably whilst on the pitch. Whether it is good for the game in the long run, only time will tell. " he is no steven gerrard who is Liverpool through and through from a very young age so why would he stay at Liverpool for less money that he can get at another club he has no affinity to

"If Real Madrid come calling, he's gone! The thing is club loyalty is a thing of the past. You won't see the One-Club heroes anymore: The likes of Gerrard, Scholes, Carragher and Giggs. Players are not interested in creating a legacy at a club which involves staying for eight years or more: Henry, Shearer, Cantona and Lampard. Agents and "representatives" are the real culprits. Knowing they'll get a share of big money moves means the players are never settled. " Mark Noble ? And why should Sterling show any loyalty to Liverpool ? They are not his club. They bought him from Queen's Park Raisens.

Turned out to be a good thing, he's been the best player at Liverpool since his return. No no, I dont agree it should be a done thing.

"I find it quite sad that a player that's achieved nothing and needed a holiday not so long ago has the nerve to try holding Liverpool to ransom. " To ransom? How does that work? You dont have to sign any contract, he might think he deserves more money, he might take the advice than Gerrard has 'possibly' given him. That could be 'My biggest regret was not playing for a team abroad'.

"I find it quite sad that a player that's achieved nothing and needed a holiday not so long ago has the nerve to try holding Liverpool to ransom. " What ransom is he holding them to. He is contracted for another two years and will play for them unless sold. He has every right to ask for what he thinks he deserves, if Liverpool don't think he's worth it they will get rid.

" or maybe refreshing to see a manager look at the issue, which we don't know fully tbh and make a decision which has paid dividends..? and its not holding anyone to ransom its negotiating.. if the club aren't happy they wont pay and will sell him on..

"Id rather live in Spain than in the UK and take home a very good wage. And personally I'd rather do something constructive and be the best I could than warm a bench" Would hate to see a young British talent wasting away on a bench somewhere, better to be playing and learning the game.

Yeah totally agree. Uk, Spain, Italy, Germany, Holland, Scotland wherever really. I hate to see any good players leave these shores, being british dosent come into it. Tierry Henry for example, what a loss he was to MOTD etc

"He is now where near the finished item yet. Yes full of potential but as a lifelong Liverpool fan he can also be frustrating to watch, he beats players on pace, but when he is slowed down by better defenders he hasn't got the close control to get by them, and his finishing has a lot to be desired. 4 one in ones against Man utd proved that. He should sign the contract and become the polished diamond he can be then in 3 years he will get the contract he deserves......" he's 19, bloody ell give the lad chance..

" hat's exactly what I'm saying, he needs to learn his trade, and there's worse places he could do it than Liverpool. Unfortunately his "advisors" may only be after the money on offer elsewhere

"He should ask the FA for advice, not just the current manager. If I move abroad to play will that alone effect my chances of playing for England? If its a NO, consider the move to Spain, if the opportunity comes." If he continues to develop he will have plenty of time to play abroad and will also be in a better position to negotiate his terms. Surely better to prove himself for a couple of years before chasing the cash??

I think their coaching is and will be that good. Say either of those two offered me 75k aswell, (maybe better tax benifits) plus a jet on the runway. Then I would take it, that chance might not come again. As mentioned to develop my game I wouldnt bother anywhere else abroad as I dont think they will be much better than Liverpool anyway. Maybe Inter milan, but still. I also think its better for your health out there

He could win things with Liverpool and be this generation's John Barnes. Fair play for Mark Noble.
