Poorly advised to be turning down a long term contract at c.£75k a week, or right not to sign and better off moving elsewhere for more?

£75k is a lot of money but in reality he can earn double that elsewhere now.

So he has the right not to sign it. Liverpool can sell him but to buy a ready made replacement will cost £25m and wages over £100k a week anyway.

Players have all the power nowadays so if he keeps playing well they will have to pay him it eventually.

I think it's similar to Rooney asking for a transfer, perhaps....his head may be turned and his advisers may not be best for him, though he's more than entitled to earn what he can, it's a short career. Playing wise, I think he'll develop best at LFC, but see what happens...

Rodgers said in a press conference today that Sterling hadn't yet put pen to paper on what is a stunning deal. Connections to the player he has no intention of signing. Despite being contracted to 2017, if he doesn't want to stay, Liverpool will be forced to cash in.

Short term he would be mad to move, he is in a good environment with a manager who wants to build a team around him. I hope he sees sense.

He is still work in progress, another couple of years putting in solid performances at Liverpool and he will be able to take his pick of where to go next. He should be very careful with his development, too many young players get carried away and end up never being as good as they could.

He has immense potential if he is handled properly. I don't think he would benefit from a move to Spain where potentially he might not make first team. I agree he should stay put. My concern is are Liverpool players treated too much with kid gloves. Why Sturridge was out so longer mains a mystery to me.

I have no idea what is best for Raheem Sterling, how his advisors might be influencing his decision making and what his thoughts are. I also have no idea whether Daniel Sturridge or other playets have been handled with kid gloves for too long. However Liverpool are more likely to win silverware with Sterling staying and Sturridge able to sustain his fitness for much longer periods. I hope Liverpool management know how to handle these things and my opinion on the matter would be worth diddly squat to them. I guess time will tell if they do...

Statistically he is Liverpool's top attacking player this season but I agree with the need for him to remain grounded as he develops.

The thing is club loyalty is a thing of the past. You won't see the One-Club heroes anymore: The likes of Gerrard, Scholes, Carragher and Giggs. Players are not interested in creating a legacy at a club which involves staying for eight years or more: Henry, Shearer, Cantona and Lampard.

Agents and "representatives" are the real culprits. Knowing they'll get a share of big money moves means the players are never settled.

What ransom is he holding them to. He is contracted for another two years and will play for them unless sold. He has every right to ask for what he thinks he deserves, if Liverpool don't think he's worth it they will get rid.

Its all a question of if he's after the money or becoming the best player he can be. 75k is big money at his age and seems to send the message that he's made it and can promote apathy. The best players never rest on their laurels and work harder for longer. Is he that kind of player or just wanting to make more more more? If he's after development he could do a lot worse than liverpool

Yes full of potential but as a lifelong Liverpool fan he can also be frustrating to watch, he beats players on pace, but when he is slowed down by better defenders he hasn't got the close control to get by them, and his finishing has a lot to be desired. 4 one in ones against Man utd proved that.

Abroad it would have to be Real or Barca or dont bother.

I think their coaching is and will be that good.

Say either of those two offered me 75k aswell, (maybe better tax benifits) plus a jet on the runway.

Then I would take it, that chance might not come again.

Its just a better standard of life, get a place just outside the city of Madrid or Barca, your 30 mins max away from the airport.

Im not knocking Liverpool, or any other UK city but I dont think we can compete with the climate, culture, possibly even the coaching.

My biggest worry would be family and home sickness.

I also truly believe if it aint fucked dont try fixing it, so I suppose Im being a hypocrit, £75k every single week of the year to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world isnt bad afterall.
